Counter service drink sizes on the basic DDP

Are you limited to a specific drink size at counter service places?

The DDP includes the small drink.

Occasionally some CS's will give you the larger drink, but they only have to give you the smaller size.

I believe that a bottle of water is also generally an option.

Every restaurant gave us a large when we asked EXCEPT Cantina San Angel Inn. but I don't recommend getting drinks there. It taste like the musty water or it did when we were there in Sept.

Even what they consider "small" was pretty big!! And yes, they allowed us to get a bottle of water if we wanted to, or a juice, if we did not want soda.

Funny though how things have changed so much in this country regarding beverage size...I remember as a kid back in the '80s when a small was 12 ounces (I believe)...now at most places you go to, the smallest you can get is 20 ounces!!! Even the kiddie size is 12 or 16 ounces nowadays!

We've always been able to get a large drink everywhere except the French bakery. Only a small was allowed there.

Yeah, I think everything changed when McDonald's went SuperSize.
