Sorry that I am still confused about the Quick Service dining. I was in the Park in 2010, when I visited some quick service dining restaurants, I was not sure what I could order.
Since I will be visiting at the end of Feb, I want to be prepared with this dining plan more. I have looked at the Easywdw.com to see their color coded map in the park. They color coded the quick service dining restaurant in the park. Does it mean when I go to those restaurants, I can order whatever I want for my lunch or dinner? And what about the food items with the little square disney logos next to them? Are those the ones that are consider to be the dessert? So the other items on the menu under dessert or appetizer without the logos will not be covered by the quick service dining program?

1. At CS restaurants adults are entitled to an entree, dessert and standard fountain drink. You choose an entree and you will get everything that is included in the description of that item.

2. The square purple Disney logo is posted next to items that can be purchased with a snack credit.

3. Not necessarily because you'll find them next to a variety of items.

4. The items without the purple logos are not included in the snack portion of the dining plan, but it might be allowed as a dessert when using the CS credit. The CS credit does not include an appetizer.

Desserts with a CS credit. Some restaurants will only have a couple of dessert choices, while others such as some resort food courts will have a wide array. We usually ask what choices are included because it will vary with the venue.

purple figment gave you some great answers!

We've done the dining plan a few times. I've found it's best to tell the cashier that you have the dining plan before you order. They can help guide you if you aren't sure.

Here is Disney's brochure for the dining plan http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/media/wdw_nextgen/CoreCatalog/WaltDisneyWorld/en_us/PDF/2014Dining.pdf
This lists which restaurants are for quick service (as well as table service restaurants), and which meals are available at each (breakfast, lunch and/or dinner).

THanks for answering my questions. Now I feel more comfortable ordering food!

always ask the cm. They can help you and usually give you tips on the best bang for your buck!

When you walk up to the counter, immediately say "I'm on the dining plan." Most will then explain what you can order and walk you through it. If you try to order something that's not on the plan, they'll tell you. If you aren't sure, don't hesitate to ask questions. They are there to answer them.

I've used the plan on six trips now and I still have questions because it changes and it's different at some places... France was really confusing for me because a snack credit was anything under a certain price point.

But, most places it was pretty obvious.

Something we've found helpful is that most places will let you substitute another drink for your dessert. That's been nice to stock up on bottled waters

Yes indeed! This is a great tip. The first time we did the dining plan, we ended up with so many desserts not knowing what to do with them. Would've been nice to know I could've swapped them for water because we needed that so much more in the sweltering heat. :faint: I knew better the second time. Thanks for this tip though, because I'd forgotten.

You learn something new every day here! Thanks for that tip. We too always end up with wasted desserts.

Another tip - order the large sized fountain drink on hot days. They give you the standard size by default, but the large size is included with the QS credit.

You're welcome (and to the others who said thank you as well). I honestly don't know if this is official policy or not. We've had a couple of CMs playfully give us a hard time for requesting the substitution but nobody has ever not allowed it. And most of the time they do it without saying anything about it

Yep - I got this tip on the Dis a few years ago when I was just a lurker and have used it many times since. We have always been given the bottle of water when we asked.

The Dis is chock full of great advice. Thanks to all who contribute. :goodvibes

Can anyone tell me if you can get something to put your dessert in to go? Like a box or bag? Jut curious. The tip about the drink is great. I read somewhere that some places will let you substitute a piece of fruit as well. Is that true?

You can get all kinds of substitutions, so ask. As for boxes/bags - I have only had luck here when at the resorts. There are places like the french pastry shop in Epcot that have boxes and bags, but they are not lunch/dinner places.

Some of the desserts are prepackaged to begin with so no need for a to go box. However they will do that if you request.
