which counter service do you recomend? we ate at one last year when we went that was by far the worst we ever experienced at wdw. we are generally quite pleased with the food -- so we are not real finicky eaters. we just need opions and good options for our day at the studios. thanks:thumbsup2

:goodvibes

We love Backlot express and Pizza Planet. Both good food and lots of it. Backlot Express is just around the corner from Indiana Jones Stunt and Pizza Planet is near Muppets 3-D show.

Thank you very much. We ate at ABC Commisary last time. I didn't know if it was the luck of the draw or if we needed to head out of the park for lunch.

I'll give Backlot Express the :thumbsup2 on this one. They have been one of our favorites every time we go.

I think Pizza Planet is the best CS pizza on WDW property. ABC Commissary has more variety than the usual hamburgers and fries. Backlot Express and Rosie's All American Cafe are virtually the same to me.

That is the only counter service I'll eat at the Studios, which is really a shame since our favorite rides are there. Our second morning we did the Studios, we left at noon and went to Earl of Sandwich in DTD. Now that's good counter service!

I just looked at the menu for Earl of Sandwich and I'm going to give it a try when we go this month. It looks good. Especially the: "Caribbean Jerk Chicken - grilled chicken with a spicy jerk sauce and roasted red peppers." Mmm- Spicey food.

Another vote for eating back at the food court on MGM Morning day....I dont know what it is but we just don't like the fast food there....And I know many people love the pizza, but Toy Story Pizza Planet...oh my goodness....I hate that pizza...oh its so terrible to me.

We ate at ABC Commissary two trips ago and HATED it!

We ate at Backlot Express and were pleasantly surprised. It wasn't great, but it was good.

We're trying Pizza Planet next visit - It's DS4's one must do and even if the pizza is only ok it'll be worth it to see his face.

(IF you want copies of the CS menus, I have them in a Word Doc - PM me your email address)

I ate at Backlot Express last time, and though I can only speak for what I ate, the chicken strips were actually very good. Granted it's not a spectacular menu, but for your standard counter service fare, I thought it was decent.

Have also eaten at ABC Commissary - biggest thrill there was taking silly pictures with the George Lopez and According to Jim cardboard cutouts :rotfl2:

As a note, we are doing a table service lunch this trip at Mama Melrose...

I don't love the CS at the Studios, but I think Backlot Express and Starring Rolls Bakery are pretty underrated and often get overlooked by people who say all the food at the Studios is awful.

The grilled turkey and veggie sandwiches at Backlot Express are really good. At Starring Rolls, the gourmet sandwiches and pastry are decent. It's not Earl of Sandwich, but it was good.

Also, Writer's Stop bakery has decent quick snacks and coffee.

Starring Rolls cafe. delicious Turkey sandwich. Not your normal everyday sandwich, it's on lovely bread and they have yummy kettle cooked chips.

Mmmm. I do like that sandwich. I also like the ham- I think it's Black Forest Ham and Havarti cheese, if I am remembering right. Starring Rolls is underrated, I think.

I really don't eat ham but that turkey sandwich with the aioli was delicious!! Very underrated!

Another vote for the yummy sandwiches at Starring Rolls--the staff there was also very helpful with explaining what we could get on the DDP. We also had decent sandwiches at Catalina Eddie's.

We like the cheese pizza/salad combo at Pizza Planet. It's fun to grab a table outside & people watch. Otherwise, the popcorn wagon is always a good choice. If we have time, a mid-day boat ride to Beaches & Cream for a double cheeseburger & malt is a favorite!
