Countdown to the Clown! A September PTR - Updated 9/13 - TR LINK

All caught up now. That book is fabulous. The characters really get excited and make a big deal about seeing their own picture and it makes for a great distraction on the bus, waiting for a parade, etc.

You are only allowed TWO outfits? Is that for all your moving and WDW too, or just Germany and moving? Wow. That would be hard! Pick things that can create at least four outfits! Are you going to share your picks on your PTR?

Only in a manner of speaking. I plan to do a couple of live updates as I travel and as I have time. YOu'll see what I picked through Magdalene's post and maybe one of mine along the way.

I ended up choosing, 1 pr. pants, my brown capris, a teal cotton woven skirt, 4 tops, a blue fleece and a black sport-like jacket. Looks like our weather could be really drizzly or even rainy in Nuremberg. :confused3

I love that stroller organizer. That looks really handy. Claire still likes to use the stroller....in fact on Sunday we went to the zoo and I told her we would go without the stroller, but she insisted I bring it. She is now getting heavy to push though. I need to clean it up and maybe oil the wheels and see if that helps any. It has an awful squeak going right now. :cool2:

Great job on the deal you got at Amazon! :woohoo: I've been thinking about getting that book for my granddaughters; they're headed back to The World next March! :yay:

You almost make me wish we still had a stroller so I could have a cool stroller organizer like that one!!!

Isn't that the truth?! I miss having something to tote all our "stuff" around! :rotfl2:

I can't believe I have not subscribed here yet! I thought I did well before vacation but as I was finally catching up I realized that I hadn't. Will you ever forgive me??

I am a huge fan of both Tevas and Crocs. They have never failed me on any vacation. I have heard rave reviews on Keens, but my feet are so wide that I just cannot get my feet inside! My mom, however, SWEARS by hers. They have taken her around the world and is on pair #2 or 3 now.

I love the countdown chain you made. It's so darling. I had planned on doing a postboard wall thingie... but that has me intrigued!

Let me know how the stroller bag works out. We also have a Peg stroller and while I appreciate the basket down below, there are so many things that are just rough to get out!

Your food lists look wonderful and are making me want to get back into my planning and work on similar lists!

The new shoes are so cute! I love cute and a little funky too!

I think I am all caught up and I have to say that you are one serious bargain shopper. Way to go with your Amazon buys - $8.00 - Way to go! :cool1: I like your green DIS crocs. That's all they need is a little logo that says Disboards.com, because they scream it.

So excited that your trip is right around the corner!

Nice loot from shopping!!! :thumbsup2

I love the Crocs - those are super super cute!! I might have to wander over to Amazon and see what I just must have....:rolleyes1

Well, I guess the shoes are good, right?? I'm not really in the know there. I did expand my footwear horizons though and bought sandals for the first time this summer. Bringing my vast shoe repository to one pair each of : tennis, brown dress, black dress, sandals, flippies. So there you go. I guess I'm taking baby steps. (Get it? Steps, shoes....nevermind.)

Anywho, the stroller mesh thingy looked like it would come in handy. You could stick in a camera body, a couple of lenses, cleaning cloths, spare batteries, hot shoe flash, memory cards, and a table tripod and still have room for a diaper. Maybe. If it was an off brand.

Hope you guys have a great day! Take care!

Yes, baby steps. Hardy, har, har. ;) Good job on expanding to sandals! I bet you have made your wife proud!

I was thinking the same thing about the stroller thing. :rotfl2: Kidding! We have a whole dedicated bag for that stuff...on Joe's back! :thumbsup2 Unfortunately we don't have an extra lens, and thankfully we don't need spare batteries ever - the one with the camera is awesome and lasts alllllllllllllllllll day.

WOW Brook! All for $8?!! You go girl!!:thumbsup2

We have that organizer...is it the Maclaren one? Just to warn you...it stinks are a grown up cup holder....it leans so your drink spills...so I always have to drink a lot of the top of a fountain soda so it's not leaking as I walk. But it does store a lot!!!

I have to look into that book....so cute! :cutie:

Love that Henry is adding smilies!! Coley is here, he wants to add some, too! pirate::santa:

I was pretty excited about my buys! I was going to stay under the credit I had, but I figured $8 wasn't too bad. :thumbsup2

It's not the Maclaren one actually! I looked at that one first because we have a Maclaren stroller; however, I noted the "meh" reviews on it with the drinks and found this one instead. I cannot remember the brand...something I had never heard of, but it had some great reviews. I think there still might be some of that same issue with the cup holder, but not as bad it seems. At least I hope not!

I love how Cole chose the pirate and a santa! So cute!

I wondered if the bag and shoe chatter had subsided enough that it was safe for a guy to peek in here. I scrolled down a little bit and saw this:

So, I guess not.

And then I learned that Great Biscuit owns sandals. :faint:

;)

I think Hell might be frozen over.

Henry! Noooo! :rotfl2:
Hilarious!

We have one of those too. I didn't notice the "caution" tag on ours...probably should have read it. It probably said something about finances.

Henry also enjoys my chapstick.

I didn't read the caution tag either...I assume you are correct in that statement about finances. Yet here we are, itching to buy more points, aren't we??!?!? It's a sickness! (and I fully embrace it)

More talk about the jalapeño pretzels is making me hungry :rotfl2: I'm glad you know where to look and others have said they weren't hard to find.

Some of my fave apps for traveling are the weather apps - especially ones with good radar where you can zoom in tightly. I have the usual weather channel and accuweather but the one we like the most for the radar is called "my radar". I like to have a flight tracker app as well but I just made me a shortcut for flightstats.com since it's more user friendly and free. Google Earth is a fave of ours too and it's cool to zoom in on the disney sights. :thumbsup2. I'm sure you know there are a few disney radio apps and also wdw park hours. My fave would have to be solitaire! :cool1: yes the iPhone will require it's own update!!! :worship:

Love the cute clothes too! :lovestruc

Heather

Just thinking about all those nummy pretzels and snacks has my stomach growling too. I was just working on "The Plan" and thinking about it all...:yay:

THANK YOU for the info on your apps! I will check them out...tomorrow! My phone comes tomorrow! I'm excited, but I think Joe is even more excited. :lmao: (even though he already has an iPad...!) I haven't done hardly any research on the Disney apps of any kind. How cool that there are radio ones! The Park Hours one will be very, very handy. :thumbsup2

Naturally.
;)

GB, you're TWO pair ahead of my BF. Means I need to prod him to buy more! Kudos for being ahead of the game!

:lmao:

I cannot even count how many times between when we booked the trip and yesterday that I pulled up Amazon, ShoeBuy or Crocs.com to browse the Crocs. Seriously. I had almost come to accept that I wasn't getting a new pair....then I remembered that money I had made online. Muahahaha.

Joe is pretty good with shoes actually. He's got sandals, tennies, and dress black and brown. He refuses flip flops. :confused3 Since he's color blind he always asks me if everything goes together and what shoes he should wear!

Yes, I remember that conversation as well! :goodvibes I tried to tell you that I was just like you: running was the worst thing that could happen to me when I was at school. And now I really enjoy it! I still have days where I really have to make myself go out, but I always feel better afterwards. :goodvibes

In school we had this teacher who tortured us with the cooper test every four weeks or so. It is a test which measures your stamina: you have to run for 12 minutes and the fitter you are the further you can go. Of course we did nothing between those tests in gym class to actually improve our fitness levels. So of course I did not get any better. I hated those days and 12 minutes running seemed like an hour long ordeal... :scared1: I failed this test every time!!

Isn't it so strange how we have grown to enjoy running? My old co-worker called it the "running high" and she's so right! Last night my 5 minute was a bit rougher due to hotter weather, but I did it - and it felt GREAT after. I can't wait to be able to run 20 minutes straight!

That is awful about your gym teacher!!! I would have been the same exact way. We had nothing that bad, but we had the run the mile 2 times a year. One time a class mate of mine, who is a little person, beat me. Her legs were HALF the length of mine, but she beat me. She was so excited that she wasn't last!

We live in a crazy world my friend. On the bright side, I no longer have to be barefoot in the Easter musical so there is that benefit.

Oh too funny! Are you going to post pictures of your new sandals? Feel free, really, I don't mind. ;)

I run a 12 min yard...if that counts for anything.

:rotfl: I don't run too fast either. I run, but people walking almost pass me!

You will :lovestruc your iPhone :goodvibes Let me know if you need any app tips or help...I am uber geeky with my phone :rotfl2:
What a fun update with your Disney wardrobe...(the best kind of wardrobe there is ;)) Henry is the best model!!! Adorable :)
I was laughing right out loud when you said your DVC tote was your most expensive bag....sure is!!!
Cute Crocs!!! Love the color....guess I am kooky too!! :upsidedow

Tracy

I am certain I will need help! I'm a tad overwhelmed with all the apps out there and have been reluctant to research until I have it in my hands. What apps do you like/use?

That DVC bag has been costing us for years! ;) Hopefully we will have the bag paid OFF this coming year...then we can buy more points. He he.

All the other colors were more expensive! I wanted to be as cheap as I could and I LIKE the green! I looked at my clothing choices and realized I could swing it with much of my Disney wardrobe. It might not match exactly, but close enough for me!

Whew! Just read through from top to bottom. Good thing I had a food break in the middle (yummy pretzels) and some great pics of Henry to keep me going. Another great PTR Brook!:thumbsup2

:rotfl2: I love how you had pretzels during my PTR!

::welcome::

:lmao::lmao::lmao:

Thanks for stopping by my ptr Brook.

Isn't he a nut???! :goodvibes

All caught up Brook! Your plans sound fantastic!

I love you list of snack! Yummy!!!!! I really want to try that Cream Cheese Pretzel and frozen coke!

I love, love, love all your shirts!!! LOVE them! One of my upcoming posts will have my WDW outfits in it!

BTW, I sent you a message on Facebook! Did you get it?

The Cream Cheese Pretzel and Coke are very high on my list. The more I think about it, the more I crave it!

I'm looking forward to your WDW outfits! :hyper:

And yep, I did get it - I actually just replied (last night?) on your PTR. Sorry, I've been kinda off FB lately, just quickly posting an update and not checking/responding to anything...I need to get caught up over there!

You almost make me wish we still had a stroller so I could have a cool stroller organizer like that one!!!

:lmao: It is pretty stylin' isn't it? But just be glad you are stroller free...oh how I look forward to those days. In some ways. :rolleyes1

It was really nice on our last trip, when my DS was potty trained. And only once did we have a real problem with him needing to go when it wasn't a good time. And like you said he cuts down on things you need.

Thanks for the info. It's what I was thinking. We typically have my DH with a video camera bag, with a little extra space for a few small things. I have a large camera bag for camera, phone, money and cards. And then we have another bag for stuff, extra clothes for DS, glow sticks, snacks for DS , autograph book and other misc things. But I'm hoping to ditch the large camera bag, go with a smaller camera and put most of the things in a bag like your Baggalini, instead of having a large bag such as your large bag. Even the smallest thing is so difficult sometimes for us planners, isn't it. :)

I so look forward to the potty trained trips!! We are going to start in September, after we get back from the trip, and hopefully he will catch right on and be done by November when we are traveling again.

I think your Baggalini should be able to fit quite a bit of the extra stuff you had in the bigger bag. It really does fit a LOT.

Oh yes, we planners have to think through it ALL! It's fun though!!!

LOVE the organizer for the stroller. I swear they never had anything like that when our kids were little (okay, that was 20+ years ago...but still ).

Won't it be interesting to see what they have 20+ years from now??? I swear they have everything for a baby! But I'm sure there is something that will create...

What a bargain on your Amazon order! You have got to love that.

I like your green shoes, they are really cute!

I was pretty pumped about my deals! I think everything will be arriving tomorrow too! :yay:

Thanks on the shoes! I'm excited about them!

WOW what a great deal Brook!!! I must learn your ways LOL!!!!

Love the green Crocs....makes me want to go look and see if I can find a pair!!!

NICE HUNTING!!

Amazon has some really pretty good deals on Crocs - you just might find a pair...or two!

How did I get so behind- so many things to catch up on!!! :lmao:

First, you asked about our room at the Boardwalk. I don't think we requested anything- it was just luck of the draw! But you could just request something overlooking one of the pools and I think you'll get a great view no matter what!

Yay for getting an iphone! You are going to love it- I don't know what I ever did without mine! The notes app (comes preloaded) is probably my most useful as far as keeping all my shopping lists, etc on it. It would be a great place to take notes for the TR! My favorite Disney apps are eTicket WDW, which is the DIS app; Mouse Memo, which is great for organizing all of your ressie numbers and also has all the menus, WDW Lines, which is the Touring Plans app; and Undercover Tourist, which has a little bit of all of the above!

Love Henry the bag model! :rotfl: I agree, Baggalini should market him!

I have that Maclaren organizer too, and I agree with Kristen, it does spill drinks! It's great for a normal sized water bottle though, just nothing too heavy. And the actual bag is great for all the diapers and wipes and stuff- would be perfect for a ziploc bag with a change of clothes too! :thumbsup2

I'm sure I had more to comment on, but I will have to catch up in the morning! Must go to bed!

I think that is a good idea about the request. I was just gonna roll with whatever we got and not request anything...but maybe...

I'm glad to hear a Notes app comes with the phone! I was thinking something like that, along with maybe some video sound bytes would be useful for the TR. And THANK YOU for the recommendation on apps! I haven't looked into it much at all yet, but need to! The phone comes tomorrow! :yay:

The stroller organizer I purchased isn't Maclaren - I looked at that one first and saw the reviews about the drinks spilling, so I ordered a different one. I think we might still have some of that problem, but not quite as much - as per the reviews anyway! I'm so glad it will fit so much stuff and we can go without the giant bag!! It will be so convenient to just have it right there in that pocket.

All caught up now. That book is fabulous. The characters really get excited and make a big deal about seeing their own picture and it makes for a great distraction on the bus, waiting for a parade, etc.

Oh Henry will have a ball with this! When he sees any character pictures on the DIS he says, "Who's that?" (if he doesn't know already) and then says "I want to shake his hand." Love the dual purpose of the book serving also as a distraction device. ::yes::

Only in a manner of speaking. I plan to do a couple of live updates as I travel and as I have time. YOu'll see what I picked through Magdalene's post and maybe one of mine along the way.

I ended up choosing, 1 pr. pants, my brown capris, a teal cotton woven skirt, 4 tops, a blue fleece and a black sport-like jacket. Looks like our weather could be really drizzly or even rainy in Nuremberg. :confused3

Oh, that's not SO bad then. You've got 4 tops, that's easily 6 outfits, plus the fleece and jacket can make an outfit look completely different as well. I was literally thinking 2 tops, 2 bottoms and that's IT. It's doable, but man....!

:cool2:

I know we'll be using the stroller for years to come, especially here in NYC where a lot of walking is daily life. I see kids that are 7 or even 8 years old in strollers sometimes - usually asleep!

Great job on the deal you got at Amazon! :woohoo: I've been thinking about getting that book for my granddaughters; they're headed back to The World next March! :yay:

Isn't that the truth?! I miss having something to tote all our "stuff" around! :rotfl2:

I think the book is going to be a big hit! I just might keep it as a secret until we get to the plane, or whenever I need it as a distraction device. I've seen it in a few TRs now, after I saw it in Jill's, and it seems like a great alternative to the regular autograph book!

Of course you are forgiven! :welcome: :yay:

The countdown chain is super easy. Click to save, click to print, cut and tape. Some people I noticed on that thread get a little fancier with trivia on the back, but Henry wouldn't give two hoots at this stage. It was done in a matter of 20 minutes. :thumbsup2 One thing I will do differently next time is put the number of days on the back side, in case we forget one night - or I'm just curious. :rolleyes1

That is the problem with have with our Maclaren as well. And when Henry is reclined the basket is completely useless. I will let you know how it works out - if I don't remember to post a review on it, remind me. :thumbsup2

:rotfl: I didn't even think about them being DIS-friendly shoes! You are right though!!

Nice loot from shopping!!! :thumbsup2

I love the Crocs - those are super super cute!! I might have to wander over to Amazon and see what I just must have....:rolleyes1

::yes:: I think that would be a fine idea! They have some great deals too!

I read that you won't be able to go to the DC Meet. :sad1:

I'm bummed, but I understand.

We are bummed too. :sad2: I couldn't believe the huge jump in the bus fare! But, after I saw that and tried to research other methods of getting there - in hopes of something cheap - I found the reviews of the service we were going to use on Yelp and they were horrid. Like a 4 hour trip taking 6.5. Can you imagine? With a 3 year old. :scared1::scared1::scared1: So...I'm kinda glad we didn't buy the tickets on that respect. But I REALLY wish we could be there. :sad1:

Isn't it so strange how we have grown to enjoy running? My old co-worker called it the "running high" and she's so right! Last night my 5 minute was a bit rougher due to hotter weather, but I did it - and it felt GREAT after. I can't wait to be able to run 20 minutes straight!

I think one thing that really helped me with getting into running (and staying into it) is the supprt from others! My first 5k I signed up for because a colleague insisted I should come along. And she is still great for training advice etc. Yesterday evening I went out for a run because I felt after reading about you and Liesa keeping to your training schedule despite the heat, I really need to make an effort as well. I was quite proud of myself that I did run a bit longer than usual: 45 minutes! :yay: I need to train longer distances for my 10k in October.

One thing I really love is the Nike+ app in my Iphone (was preinstalled). You need to get a sensor to put on your shoe. Supposedly you ought to have Nike+ shoes to put the sensor in your shoe, but there are these little pouches available with which you can attach the sensor to your shoe laces. When you synchronize your IPhone with Itunes it then sends all the data from your run to the Nike+ website and there you have an overview of all your runs. It is a really neat thing and when it told my yesterday that I did run my fastes kilometer ever, I was quite proud!! :cool1:

I am certain I will need help! I'm a tad overwhelmed with all the apps out there and have been reluctant to research until I have it in my hands. What apps do you like/use?

My favourite apps are:

the standard weather one (I have all kind of places on it, including Orlando)

Alarm Clock (I really use it as my alarm every night, but that means it has to be plucked into the mains at night, this app drains the batteries, but then I never have to worry about recharging, because it is fully charged in the morning)

iXpenselt (for keeping a budget, I really like that one to keep an overview of my expeditures)

2Do (I even have the full version. love it for keeping lists)

one from my bank which tells me the nearest ATM (and can do online banking)

the standard map app and an app for public transportation in Germany

my favourite game is Chuzzle and I also have Crash Kart which is fun to play, I am just not very good at it.

Besides that I really use it as my calendar and adress book, so I don't have those in paperform anymore. This is the thing I like best about the IPhone, I just have one phone instead of phone, Ipod, calendar and city map. :goodvibes

Hi! Sorry I am waaay behind! lol I read the entire thing so far! I love all of your shirts & shoes for the trip! I have the Baggalini bag in Pewter gray & took it to the zoo. Originally I had a huge lump in my neck for about a week after and blamed the Baggalini...turns out it was my camera case, not the Baggalini! I'm really excited because its a great bag to use at Disney & also local parks, the zoo, etc!!!

I just placed an order the other night on Amazon for Disney books for my Kindle...now that I read your report, I'm thinking I need to look at shoes on there too...:rolleyes1

I've read parts of your other reports but never commented. I promise to follow this one better!!! :goodvibes I love all of your pictures!

I am super jealous (like everyone else!) that your husband loves Disney and will go shopping with you!!!

I LOVED your choices for snacks! I, unfortunately for calorie-counting purposes, love chocolate way too much...especially on Disney trips! I usually choose the chocolate cake or the chocolate mousse or the chocolate croissant...you get the idea! lol I loved having the dining plan this past trip because I got to eat so many desserts! YUM!!!

The pictures of your son are too cute!!! I especially loved the "tradition pictures". I've seen so many people do that and keep telling myself I need to choose "a tradition place" somewhere at home or at Disney. I really want to compare pics year after year.

I had more comments...but they're on a piece of paper...and I just went to answer my cell phone...and while I was gone...my 2 year old took the paper...and ripped it into a thousand pieces! :lmao:

I promise to follow along better now that I'm all caught up!!! Can't wait to read more, I love your reports!

Ugh! First the pretezels, now this!!! Your power of suggestion is very strong;) I don't own Crocs because I never found the clogs to be too comfy. But then a few weeks ago I was in a Crocs store and tried a few of the cuter shoes on (in particular the silver ones you have) and liked them but couldn't pull the trigger on them for the cost. Just checked them out on Amazon and I think I may need to do it, there were 3 different pairs I liked, all for under $20!!! You are a bad influence :rotfl:

Great job on the 45 minutes!!!! Wow! I know I'll be there someday, but I just can't wrap my head around it yet. The Nike chip sounds really interesting. Does it map where you ran and the distance? I would like this sort of thing, just out of curiosity. I try to count blocks, but I always seem to loose count.

Thank you for the list of apps! Tonight I'm going to be going through all these suggestions (and another thread I found on the DIS Podcast Board devoted to iPod apps) and be installing like crazy!

I am really looking forward to exactly that when I have the iPhone. I remember when I bought my iPod and always had that, small camera, cell phone and map with. I thought Apple would eventually make an iPod/camera/phone and lookee here! I hope the camera on the iPhone4 is fairly decent.

Amazon has some really good deals on shoes and Crocs! I was surprised! Plus if you can get free shipping its even better.

I am blessed with a Disney loving and shopping husband! :rotfl: He doesn't like shopping all the time, just when he's in the right mood and/or needs something. Sometimes I'm dragging him around!

Joe likes the DDP for the same reason you do - DESSERT! I'm not a huge dessert eater - especially at the CS meals, so he still gets dessert and I usually don't and we just pay OOP, it works out really well for us. Now snacks, THAT is a different story! :rolleyes1

:rotfl2: about the 2 year old! I SO understand! ::yes:: No worries!

I just opened up your TR and will get caught up ASAP!

Ugh! First the pretezels, now this!!! Your power of suggestion is very strong;) I don't own Crocs because I never found the clogs to be too comfy. Just checked them out on Amazon and I think I may need to do it, there were 3 different pairs I liked, all for under $20!!! You are a bad influence :rotfl:

:lmao: Oh, don't you just love the DIS?!?! ;) I paid I think $40 for those silver ones, I should have bought them online, sooooo much cheaper. Let me know if you decide to get a pair! They really are great with the strap on the back, very comfy and provide good support. Plus they are lightweight and can get wet!

I think i am gonna get the Crocs!! I can always return them if need be. Plus, I can wear them to work so it makes it easier to justify the purchase (they are very picky about what kind of shoes we can wear here, I work in a lab) . :goodvibes

I am not a Nike person, the shoes don't work for me. But if you are interested in something to track distance, pace and time, you might look into a Garmin Forerunner. I have an older model and keep thinking I will upgrade. But my old one still works so I can't make myself shell out cash for a new one. It is basically a GPS watch so it tracks your runs and then you can download all the info and keep track of your workouts. I LOVE it!:lovestruc
