Countdown to August 2011 (tr link posted)

Hi Debby - all is well here. We had a rough winter - both DH and DS had surgery but everyone is ok now. Oh, and Ashley had her wisdom teeth out too. Just trying to get through the last few weeks of school.

We are trying Via Napoli this summer. I have heard pretty good reviews about it. Seems like they have a good variety on the menu.

I glad all is well now- very busy around your house this winter!

There is a positive to missing you in July--you can give me the heads up on the restaurant! I saw that you posted to Nikki about the July group just not being the same. I took a peak over at the Aug. group...I felt like an outsider. I really need to pop in over there and introduce myself though...Jess (Disfreak###:rotfl2:) is over there, so I know someone. :rotfl:

Hi Debby
What are your exact dates in August? We will all be there the 13th thru the 23rd

We will be there the first week in August. I will be back in school while you are enjoying your trip!

No personal experience of Via Napoli yet, but it is a must-do restaurant for us on our next trip! :thumbsup2

I will let you know what we think. :cool2:

Love that the girls got to see MSEP whilst dining at Tony's! :thumbsup2

The Via Napoli menu looks great! I have seen pics of the big pizzas you can get from this place and they look yummy! popcorn::

Happy Mother's Day! Hope you have a special day! :goodvibes

Thanks! I can't remember if it is on your list. (Guessing no.) Curious why it wasn't on your list... popcorn::

What a nice memory!

We may try a Via Napoli pizza slice from the walk-up place in July, if it is operating. I have only heard about it, and don't know if it is just seasonal, but surely Fourth of July week it will be open. I am always up for trying something new in Disney World.

Disney memories are the best!

In looking at the menu, pizza is probably what we will order. We aren't really into authentic (well as authentic as Epcot food can be for the masses...) so the desserts aren't even super enticing... I think it will be a good OOP for us.

Happy Mother's Day!:flower3:

I absolutely love the picture of the girls watching the parade thru the window:cloud9:

Hands down, no questions asked....Via Napoli! Jasmine and I both loved it and it was the first ADR she insisted on for August's trip! We have done Tony's every year that we have gone and honestly have been less than thrilled the last few visits! 2008 with my sis and her family we had a great server but the food was awful:confused: The year before with my BFF and her hubby the best thing on the table was the soup I had for an appetizer:sad2:

Via Napoli is a little on the loud side so not the best choice if it was for a romantic dinner, but the service and food was one of the best we had on our last trip!

Happy Mother's Day to you! Thanks- I think the pics of that experience are awesome!

I love the sound of the atmosphere...I will have to go reread your day at Via Napoli!

Via Napoli for sure! :thumbsup2

Via Napoli has won over Tony's...but will it stay on the agenda in the end?

Oh- btw bad news today-- the Tidal Waves lost to the Polar Bears (really tough name, huh...:rotfl2:) 0-2...So, we are behind the PB...they are 4-0-1 and we are 4-1-0. Two more games until the playoffs. The girls need to win these two to get the bi!

Thanks! I can't remember if it is on your list. (Guessing no.) Curious why it wasn't on your list... popcorn:

Sorry, I have to get used to this mentioning of if it is on our list or not - it is a new concept to me!

Nope this one did not make the shortlist either! We do not have Park Hoppers and could only book 2 ADRs at Epcot. We chose Les Chefs de France (though have not heard great things about this place!) and Akershus.

The July Board is actually picking up a bit. I started an ADR list - and there are several of us on a W.I.S.H. board who are trying to lose weight/get in shape for WDW......so that has been kind of fun. I still miss my "old friends"! I am so glad that you and Nikki and a few others still do PTRs......I might have to start one, one of these days!!!!

Happy Mother's Day!!!!

Heeeyyyy!! I would definitely try Via Napoli - but I love Italian food! It's hard to mess it up! Pasta, good. Sauces, good. Cheese, good. See where this is going... :rotfl:

I did not join the July board this year - I have so much less time this year to "play Disney" - and last year I had a hard enough time keeping up!

We did change some of our plans. Maybe I will do a PTR when school is out - all about my adventures in planning! That will take maybe one page... I'll let you all know so maybe you can reply and ask questions and make me look interesting! :rotfl2:

Sorry to hear the girls lost!! They are SO close! Hope they win the next one - it's getting tight! :cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

You could always just post your dates and restaurants? What dates are you going this year? I remember you from last year. We are there July 12-26, staying at the BWI.

To begin with, your girls are very cute! And very athletic! I remember those days - only it was with my boys. Mickey is not athletic at all...we were at a baseball game the other day and she asked which one was the pitstop. I think she meant shortstop. Oh, well.

So, you'll be across the lake from us at the Boardwalk! Wave to us over at the Beach Club. Hubby and I stayed at the Boardwalk many years ago - it was awesome!

Can't help you on Tony's - we've never eaten there - or at Via Napoli, either. I'm allergic to tomato sauce (horrible, I know!) so as much as I love Italian food, it doesn't love me.

And Tangled? One of the best movies ever. Haven't seen Tron, yet...will have to check it out, especially if you say the girls liked it.

I remember you too! It was cool that I actually ran into someone from the July boards when we were at Donald's boat last year. I'll wander over there soon.

We will be there July 22-28. Our only restaurant (planned) is Crystal Palace. We are totally all about going "by the seat of our pants" with restaurants - and have had pretty good luck so far. As long as we don't try to get into anything super-popular.

We usually do the same - but I lucked out and got a free dining pin this year so we are taking advantage of it.

Sorry Debby - did not mean to hijack your thread!!!!

And aww wahh about the Tidal Waves. :( Hopefully they'll bounce back! :cheer2:

I have Chefs on the list (we cancelled it last summer...and really want to try it- I have heard some good stuff.)

Let me know when you start it (did you feel the gentle prodding? :rotfl:) I am glad you are finding some "new" friends. I have gone back to my spring exercising...I just starting using Nike+GPS app on my iphone and LOVE it. It is very motivating. If you have an iphone, you should check it out.

Hope you had a great Mother's Day!

I am just about the cheese, myself...:goodvibes
Tell me when you start your PTR - (a little prodding for you too! :rolleyes1) You are interesting and wonderful! (I started to get a bit deep and teary eyed bc you were an angel when I needed one...here come the weepy eyes...:sad2::rotfl2:)

It was a tough loss (for dh and I :lmao:- the girls - rolled off them).

You could always just post your dates and restaurants? What dates are you going this year? I remember you from last year. We are there July 12-26, staying at the BWI.

Thank you for coming over - I don't have the flair for writing like you do...UGH and I am a teacher of writing!

Thank you, and at least your daughter asked (hopefully, quietly...:rotfl:)

They are athletic on the field - on the balance beam - the one looks like a less than graceful bird. :lmao: (but don't tell her I said that..)
So, you'll be across the lake from us at the Boardwalk! Wave to us over at the Beach Club. Hubby and I stayed at the Boardwalk many years ago - it was awesome!

I am a bit indecisive - we might move to BCV before the trip takes place...you never know...

Can't help you on Tony's - we've never eaten there - or at Via Napoli, either. I'm allergic to tomato sauce (horrible, I know!) so as much as I love Italian food, it doesn't love me.

Tangled  Tron...I need a "meh" smilie! but they did watch it three or four times.

We did counter over the winter and I loved not having to worry about a schedule!!!

We usually do the same - but I lucked out and got a free dining pin this year so we are taking advantage of it.

Sorry Debby - did not mean to hijack your thread!!!!

:dance3: free dining!

Hopefully it will! :thumbsup2

And aww wahh about the Tidal Waves. :( Hopefully they'll bounce back! :cheer2:

Yes, I keep telling them they will win the next game...I think it is against my friends' daughters...their team just wants to get one goal for the season...

Dh insists that I psyche out our girls. I tried to prepare them for the white team, by telling them that they are tough...apparently, this works in the opposite way that I want...

:lmao::goodvibes

..

We really liked Chefs - especially seeing Remy from Ratatouille!! The food was very good. Yes, I felt that prod! I will keep you posted but at this point I am still just thinking - lol. Wish I had an Iphone, but do not :sad2:
I liked Tron better than I thought I would - but I LOVE Tangled!! I am not sure we are going to like having a schedule, but I did make most of the ADRs later in the day, so that might work better than the lunch breaks. We get to try a lot of new places too!

So a quick post tonight because I am a bit fiesty! I am participating in a thread about how parents feel about teachers taking days off to go to Disney...Memom, don't do it...don't read the thread. Jackie, you too - it is off limits...Beth, not a chance...don't go! Any other teacher friends... not to worry! I defended us well. The thread turned into the majority of people supporting teachers with two or three very extreme people... Anyway, as I am posting a response to an extremist... (hehe- not really, but she fully disagrees and thinks that you shouldn't be a teacher if you don't follow teacher calendar...), my mail alerts are going nuts on my phone. I check in to find nine alerts for my school facebook account.

My AP kids are stressed out about the test and I had to talk them off the ledge.

I had to laugh about the fact that someone really believes that teaching isn't "my calling" because I take two days off to have a winter weekend in Disney, and meanwhile, I am actually "on call" to my students. :lmao:

So, I talked my kiddos off the ledge and found another case of irony in my life!

Okay - so let me add a Disney snipet! My friend is going to Disney this weekend, and suddenly her daughter expressed an interest in a character meal...the crowd calendars for this weekend are 4's and 5's and can you believe I couldn't book ANY character meals EXCEPT Hollywood and Vine. I know it is last minute, but :scared1: what are the parks going to look like? Meanwhile, I am headed over to try again for her. Maybe someone cancelled.

Nope, I will not be headed over to that thread. :sad2: Thank you for defending us, Debby! :goodvibes

I bet your AP students will do fantastic on their exam because they have had an awesome teacher. :thumbsup2 Even if she does take days off to go to Disney. ;):rotfl2:

1. We've eaten at Via Napoli twice and have it scheduled again this trip. Yum!!!! Good choice!
2. I *hate* when people on the internet think that they can judge others. All these people need to get off their high horses and get a life! Seriously... Last summer I posted a thread asking about flying Southwest since I had never done it before. I was flying solo with 3 kids out of a strange airport (the airport was lovely but I had never been there before) and I wanted to know if it was worth spending $10 extra per ticket to get an earlier boarding time. The thread turned into an argument about saving seats on Southwest. :sad2: It had nothing to do with my original question (I certainly wasn't going to pay $10 extra for my 6 year old to board alone and save seats, right??? ) and it was ridiculous and nasty. As an aside I often wonder why someone would post a question about a teacher taking a few days off when you must know that it WILL get nasty! I personally think teachers work really, really hard and deserve respect and appreciate from the rest of us...

Amanda

Thank you for defending all the teachers on these boards and any others that go to Disney World :goodvibes

I can't believe that such a thread has been created! Although I am not a permanent full time teacher yet I am sure all teachers place 100% into their work (and being on call afterwards - wow what a great teacher! :worship:)

Edit: I'm also glad to hear some good things about Les Chefs de France - I feel more positive about our ADR now!

I think that is why I like to book dining...I want to try every place! (But then I can't not eat at the favorites.... what to do, what to do!

I just got my iphone when verizon finally released. I had phone envy of my dad, brother and sil for about two years...:rotfl:

Amanda, I think I saw that thread... :scared1: People are too funny. I read threads and think some very unDisneylike thoughts, but I keep them to myself... :rolleyes1

I do think the person who posted was trying to ralley support for her thinking, but aside from a couple of posters, is not finding that support.

Thank you for defending all the teachers on these boards and any others that go to Disney World :goodvibes

I can't defend all teachers, but the ones I've met on the boards all truly care about their classes and work very hard in their profession. I have a colleague who does not care for Disney (OMG! :scared1:) and she is not demonstrating the commitment that so many of us at our school share. Maybe that is the correlation! hehe.

We always try to do a mix of new restaurants with old favorites. With free dining we are going to be trying several new ones - Yachtsman Steakhouse, Narcoosees, Hoop de Doo, Via Napoli, Akershus and Ohana. Our repeats this trip are Garden Grill, Chef Mickey, and CRT. We will also hit Beaches and Cream for ice cream and may try to go to the Wave again.

But you are right, it is tough when you are only doing a few TS meals.

I can't wait to try Yachtsman on one of our trips! We really enjoyed Garden Grill before. I did just make a ressie for Chef Mickey for our arrival night...I really have to figure out reservations, but ... see next post.
