Not that I slept but a wink the night before we left!! We were up at 4 a.m. and Greg drove us to my parents, who took us to Minneapolis to catch our flight. It was at 8 a.m. After a very uneventful flight, we landed at MCO at noon. Headed to the "monorail" and went over to catch Magical Express. I don't think we have ever waited for more than 20 minutes for ME in the past-this time, the line snaked around 3 times and we waited for over an hour. People were VERY crabby in line, talking about the "Monsterous Express" and the "UnMagical Express". I forgot to mention that Evan began coughing quite a bit earlier in the morning, and didn't have much of an appetite (odd for him). By the time we hit MCO, he had a fever and I, of course, had packed the Tylenol in the checked luggage... I just wanted to get to CBR and get to the room.
We finally arrived at CBR at 2:00 and our room was not ready. That's okay, I know check in is at 3:00. I had done online check in, BTW, so I just walked up to the counter to get our welcome packet and KTTW cards. We headed to OPR, bought tylenol, and ate lunch. I called to see if the room was ready yet, no luck. (It was 3:00, the lady said to try back in 20 minutes) We decided to walk down to TS, and hoped by that time the room would be ready. Not yet-and I was informed by the man on the phone that even though check in was at 3:00, rooms are not guaranteed until 5:00 p.m. That was news to me, but whatever. The boys put their suits on and swam at the quiet pool, while I continued to call to check on the room.
The quiet pool at TS:
The room was ready around 4:00p.m. We were in building 37, ground floor. I had requested building 34 or 35, but we ended up being in a great spot. We were steps from the pool and bus stop.
Drumroll, please......
The Pirate Room:
The room was so fun, nicely done!! CBR was all that I hoped it would be. I said in another post that all the hoo-rah about TS being sooooo far away from OPR is really overblown. It took us 5 minutes to walk there from the room, and we weren't even in a building close to TN. We did take the internal shuttle a few times, but could have walked there and back at least twice for the amount of time it took to wait for and ride the shuttle.
Did I mention that we ended up extending our trip by 3 days? And transferred to CSR, because there were no rooms available at CBR?? More on THAT excitement later! For those of you who have stayed at CSR~the walk to the dig site pool from the Casitas took as long as the walk to OPR from TS at CBR (for a distance reference)
Up next, MK, Tony's, and what I found in the shower....
