was it slow, was it good, any other experiences....

We have stayed at Saratoga Springs and Old Key West before and I don't believe we had any issues but we were thinking of trying one of the other resorts and since my husband has to connect to do work this trip I want to make sure I don't change to a Resort that has slow or slower internet and so I was looking for some input...

Thanks for any help

We haven't had problems with internet at Beach Club or at Grand Floridian.

But we were surfing, not working.

All resorts are Wi-Fi now. Speed is some what slow. AK-K was very poor, but that was a few years back, maybe better now???

WL - relatively low bandwidth. Poor overlap of "Guest Room" and "Public Area" WAPs. It works - but I would not attempt Movie Streaming.

Thanks, has anyone stayed at Bay Lake Towers recently? if you did how was the internet?

That seems to be the one with the most complaints.

Personally we haven't had any issues in years at any resorts but are also just surfing or emailing.

And it's all wifi now correct? They dont have jacks in the room for wired?

It has been wifi-only for several years now. When it first went wifi, it was a piece of junk everywhere and remained that way for almost two years. I remember staying at BWV, AKV and BLT and about the only time it came close to working adequately was at 3 in the morning when no one else was using it. Trying to use it for anything during the morning or in the evening was often a useless endeavor.

It is significantly better now but still not that great. At BLT last year, and BWV and AKV this year, it worked although it was somewhat slow at times, particularly during those early morning and evening times. Only once was I kicked out and had to hook up again with the system, an activity that usually occurred about twice every half hour in the early days.

This has been our experience as well. I have to work each day for a while and found that if I waited until late morning I could get things done. But early morning and evenings are horrible at every resort, IMHO. I'm sure it would cost them a lot to bump up the bandwidth a lot more but with every room having laptops, tablets, smart phones and whatever drawing off the wi fi...it's just a bad situation. I haven't found the public areas to be any better.

Make sure you are connected to the room WIFI and the common area and it will be faster.... BUT it is still slow.. If his company requires him to work than they should supply him with a 4G device with service or a rented device/phone he can network off.

Last year I stayed at BLT and the wifi was fine, just not super fast. The prior year it was always cutting out for me.

We stayed at BLT in June 2016 and had no problems with the internet. I often upload our photos to Photobucket and had no problems this last trip. And we had lots of photos with two three years posing for us. A couple of years ago I had problems at BLT but not in the last year. Maybe it depends on the room location?

For me it has gotten better over the few years....during our trip in July, our internet experience was as good as it has ever been throughout the entire resort

Most places at Disney I have experienced slow Wifi. I often just use cellular data.

We stayed at BLT August 2015 and it was awful. We have 2 teenagers and not that we were in our room a lot, but just from using in the room we went over our data plan. You just couldn't connect. Hopefully they fixed it by now.

Its better later in the day because there are less devices connected. Each access point has shared bandwidth so the more people streaming Netflix the worse the experience. This is pretty typical in every non-disney hotel we have stayed at as well. For what we do, checking email and other non video streaming tasks, the internet has worked for us on property.

Wifi at SSR THV's was great, but I believe that I read that each tree house has it's own router.

In June, there was no wi-fi in the Villas at the Grand Californian. The frustrating thing was my husband spoke to 5 different people over two days before someone said "Oh yeah- they are switching internet companies and the villas won't have wi-fi till next week." It worked fine in the common areas. They hadn't communicated that with any of the front desk staff or managers. We were given $50/ night room credit which was WAY more than we expected. It seemed like that was what they were giving everyone (who mentioned the issue?). I was just hoping for some fast passes!
