Could you date a person with a criminal record?

I once dated a guy that had been in prison for shooting someone but I didn't know until we had broken up.

Depends on the crime and how long ago it was/level of reform the person shows.

Of course, I doubt my DH wants me dating anybody, criminal or not!

I agree that it depends on what they served for. Violent crime? I don't think so. Anything else would have be judged on a case by case basis and on whether DH would mind.

I don't think so. I'd say no for most all situations. It really does depend though. Anything major like murder or something, NO. I watch a lot of those criminal shows and it seems a lot when a guy has been in prison for murder or something of that sort, he ends up killing his wife or girlfriend after. Yeah, no thanks.

It would depend on what they did. If it was something like shoplifting, lots of tickets, driving w/o a license, drunk in public, etc- I'd have no problem with it as long as it was a one time thing and they've changed... but rape, murder, anything violent- no way!!

If it were something like:

got a warning for burnt-out headlight, forgot to go show the cops, moved, didn't get notices, then got arrested 2 years later for Driving With Suspended License,

then yes! That could happen to anyone!

But something violent, no way. 'Course, am not dating anymore .
