Could You Be a "Professional" Cheerleader?

I know a girl through work who is a cheerleader for one of the major league professional football teams. We got to talking yesterday about their code of conduct. Now most of it I'd have no problems with--you have to conduct yourself civilly--no bar room brawling allowed for example. :rotfl2:

But she can't even leave her house to get milk at 7-11 without her hair being done and makeup on. She's not allowed to chew gum in public. Her nails always have to be perfectly manicured. All sorts of things like that.

Could you live up to that type of standard? I know I couldn't. If I'm running to 7-11 on Saturday morning, the last thing I'm worried about is putting on my makeup! :rotfl:

Well, I never go anywhere without make-up so that would not be a problem for me. However, I'm sure they have a few additional requirements that I'd fall waaaay short on.

Yikes. We have a lot of standards similar to that with my professional dance team, but nothing that strict. Usually it just applies when we are appearing as a team somewhere or out at the bars. Come on - everyone needs a sweatpants day!!! :)

Oh please.....most mornings my grooming routine is as follows:
1) brush teeth
2) apply chapstick

Just last night I watched a special on the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders. Their auditions were crazy intense! I definitely would not have made it! But I understand why their standards are so high.

I couldn't be a professional cheerleader. Wouldn't mind being "with" a professional cheerleader! :cheer2:

Those requirements wouldn't phase me. My hair and make-up is always done before I go out. However, I am not coordinated enough to be a cheerleader. :rotfl2:

At one time I was considering trying out for the Washington Redskin cheerleaders but for all of that work and maintenance they only pay you $50 per game and you only cheer at home games but you still have to practice and attend sponsor hoopla. You do get season tickets but that's more for your family than you as you're having to work (god, all of that smiling would drive me crazy). A requirement of the Redskins cheerleaders is that they have to have a full time job (but most of them say they're aspiring actresses/models or stay at home moms).

I think it's an awful lot of work for no more money or recognition you get out of it but it would be fun nevertheless!

But I love Oreo's, ice cream, and my free time too much to do it. Not to mention I'm not very competitive. :happytv: popcorn::

My sister was a Philadelphia Eagles cheerleader (until last year). Not all teams are that strict. She did not have all those rules. She liked it but was not worth all the aggravation. She cheered for three years for them. The last straw was she gained about 6 pounds went from a size 4 to a six (but still looked awesome). They told her to lose weight or they would cut her. She quit instead. Too many girls on her squad had eating disorders and she didn't like it.

The money stunk and they put in a lot of hours. Fun for a while but not something you do long term.

I think it is so lame to have cheerleaders at an NFL game

I am so glad that the Pittsburgh Steelers are so good, that they dont even need any lame cheerleaders!

Believe it or not, back in my college days I actually tried out to be a Falcon's Cheerleader. Needless to say, I didn't make it past the first cut. Lord, what was I thinking??!!!! :sad2:

I used to go out with my hair and makeup always being done. But I guess I just don't care anymore, lol.

Ignoring the fact that with gymnastics and such, there's not even a snowball's chance I'd qualify...

NO WAY!

LOL!

ummm... in a word (s) No freakin way :cheer2:

The people in Shop Rite would not recognize me if I were dressed to shop. They are used to my jammies ;)
Although my husband my like it better if I looiked like Dallas Cowgirl :p giddyup

Duplicate post.

Stupid "Server is too busy at the moment" or whatever the heck that says!!!!

No offense to anyone, but the idea of "professional" cheerleaders just makes me laugh.

So, no. I would not be a professional cheerleader. I have higher standards for myself. And they don't include perfect hair and makeup just to pick up milk at the 7-11. My looks are the least important facet of who I am.

Yeah - but considering the "brevity" of their uniforms it would probably be okay for her to go in her bra and panties as long as she had her hair and makeup in order.

I've never heard of anything so backwards, archaic, sexist and idiotic in my life... the rules AND the profession...
