We are thinking of going there for DD's Birthday.

I know it will probably be cold. Will there still be plenty of things to do?

Does Chef Gordon do any of his events during the "off season?"

Anyone been there during January before?

Thanks!:D

I guess it depends on what your expectations are...

Yes, it will probably be kind of cold. You might be able to swim in the pools (they're heated), but I doubt you'll want to even THINK of swimming in the ocean at that time. The beach will be nice for walking, jogging, biking, or hunting for shells. The hot tub will be nice, though, as long as you're prepared for the shock when you get out.

There will still be programs available, just not offered as frequently as during busier times of the year.

As far as Chef Gordon's programs, it all depends on whether he's on vacation or not. He tends to take his vacations at the slower times of the year, and January is definitely one of those slower times! You might want to email him at HHIChef@aol.com with the dates you're considering to see if he will be there or not.

Hope this helps. We have been at HH several times when it's been kind of chilly, but still love it there!!

Thank you for your reply.

I think the trip would mainly be to relax so fewer than the normal amount of activities may not be so bad.

I think I will send an e-mail to Chef Gordon and see if he is going to be around then.

Thanks again. :D

I'd say you could enjoy HH anytime! We've been in February, and the week we went, I'll bet the weather was as cold or colder than the typical January. But we really enjoyed it! Hot cider and cookies every afternoon in Big Murgie's Den-now that's worth the trip! About Chef Gordon, when we went, he had an appetizer get-together. Only thing I'd skip in February again is the Dolphin Watch. It was very cold out on the water.
