Could we as members purchase a a contract from another member?

Reading all these posts about add-ons and resales. I was curious if we could just sell our contracts to someone without say the timeshare store? Kind of like a for sale by owner situation. Say I were to start a webpage like fsbo. Would there be any interest? Please give me your thoughts.

You can make a private sale as long as you register all the paper work etc yourself. That includes submitting to DVC for ROFR and all closing documents etc. You woud probably need some sort of attorney at some point if you were to handle multiple contracts. It sounds to me like you want to register as a reseller, and I think for that ( at least in my state) you would need a real estate license to do so.

Well let me say I am not a commercial renter or anything. We have been just regular owners since 1999. I do happen to have a realtors license and I do know a very good attorney,but that said I do not sell timeshares. I get a thought and then I ask a question and these boards are fantastic for responses. Thanks.

You obviously took my response the wrong way. Or maybe I didn't understand what you were trying to say in your original post. If you are a realtor, then I would say have at it. It would certainly save money for those who don't want to go with a big reseller.

As Diane said, if you are a licensed realtor, then I would suppose you could be a DVC reseller, similar to Timeshare Store, GMAC and other resellers. You likely already have contacts for closing companies that could handle the title searches and whatever else Florida may require.

Another option -
If you find someone to buy your contract yourself, but don't have the expertise (or time) for all the closing details, I believe resellers like The Timeshare Store will do the closing at a significant discount to the full resale commission...
