With all the news this week, we were just wondering if the names of the parks could ever change.

Could it become "Wonderful World of Comcast?"
or
"Comcast/Pixar World?"

I guess with a new owner, anything is possible. :(

Although the future may be uncertain, I think one thing is written in stone -- Disneyland and Walt Disney World will always be Disneyland and Walt Disney World. Comcast is not run by stupid people; they are very aware of the power of the Disney name. Were they to succeed with this deal, there's no way in heck that they'd change the name of the parks.

:earsboy:

Let's suppose Comcast is successful in buying The Walt Disney Company and merging Comcast and Disney into a single company...

The resulting corporate name could be Comcast, or Comcast-Disney, or Disney-Comcast, or The Walt Disney Company, or Really Giagantic Media Co. Inc. (When NationsBank bought Bank of America, the resulting company was called Bank of America, but with the NationsBank logo.)

The Walt Disney Company today consists of four distinct segments: Media Networks, Consumer Products, Studio Entertainment, and Parks & Resorts.

The new, combined company would be likely to have a fifth segment, with a name such as Cable & Broadband or High Speed Distribution. And Media Networks would be likely to absorb Comcast's cable channels (as opposed to Comcast's cable distribution).

But Walt Disney World will remain Walt Disney World. And Disneyland will remain Disneyland. And Walt Disney Pictures will remain Walt Disney Pictures. Brand is important.

I pretty much agree. In this case, I don't think there would be a name change - not like what happened at my f/t job. Last year, the co. I work for got bought and our name did change, b/c the bank that bought us also bought 2 other wealth mgmt groups and put us all together. Right before christmas, we found out our "new" owner is going to merge with another bank here in PA. From what I understand, our name is going to remain the same, as is that of the bank that owns us. Like the previous poster said, brand is important.

:D

When U.S. Cellular took over White Sox Park (Comiskey Park) the name was changed to US Cellular field, no matter how much all of us in the Chicago area wanted it to remain Comiskey Park. These big companies really do not care what we think, that is unless we totally stop using their products, which they know probably won't happen.

Yes, in January 2003, Chicago's new Comiskey Park became U.S. Cellular Field.

But U.S. Cellular didn't "take over" White Sox Park (Comiskey Park). The White Sox sold the naming rights for the stadium to U.S. Cellular for $68 million over 20 years. That's a sponsorship deal.
