Could the Dream Turn the Grump into a Believer? Charleston Update 10/13

:magnify:

Ditto!

So happy for you. You are going to have a great time......and I'm wondering if Don is going with you??? :rolleyes1

popcorn::

HA! No Don is not going.

As Scarlett would say, "I am pea green with envy!!!" You are going to have such a fabulous time! Just absolutely fantastic! I can't think of a better group to hang out with for a long weekend! :goodvibes

Happydog, I would camp for the promise of those smores and a bunch of wine, but it better be a lot of wine! LOL!

I'm so excited, only thing that would make it better would be if you were there too :goodvibes

How about if we visit HDs campsite, eat the s'mores, drink the wine and then go to a cabin that has beds, showers and toilets that flush

I missed the start of this :sad2: but I am all caught up now.:)

AKL hopefully will do the trick for Don. ::yes::

Your niece is adorable and I enjoyed the pictures fo Atlanta. We did a cub scout trip one year that was an absolute disater but we did do a Braves game and the World of Coke.

Hey Pat!

Don enjoyed AKL, not sure he enjoyed it enough though, I needed more time!

A trip to Atlanta with a group of cub scouts? You are a brave girl!

:woohoo: on getting a new ticker! Can't believe you are going back so soon after returning!

Well, I didn't really get a Disney World trip, just a couple of days and no parks.....

But who am I kidding, I'd go again that quickly even if I did get park time!

I will be there! :thumbsup2. :goodvibes

I thought I read somewhere that you were going to be there too, can't wait to meet up! :yay:

did you bring the Baileys to dip your toasted marshmallows in? :goodvibes

Ooooo, never heard of that before, sounds good!

Just got caught up. Boy, oh boy...your niece is a dream. What a cutie! Love that hair accessory and that cake!!! :goodvibes

So glad that you, the boys, and even Don liked your room and the resort. I just about died laughing over your comment that Don is sure not to pay Disney too high of a compliment in your presence.:rotfl: I can definitely relate girl....Chris is the same way. However...I have been noticing a slight change in this department, so maybe there is hope yet.;)

Michelle - we said it before, but I am now convinced...we have to keep our husbands away from each other at all costs. They are so much alike. Too much alike. They would be SUCH a bad influence on one another.

Instead, we should just plan to meet up again in WDW for a girls' trip. Which, by the way, I am so happy to see you will be enjoying again in October. Just bummed that it looks like I will miss you by days.:sad2: Oh well...next time! And now that you are a TA, I sure hope that you can plan a couple "familiarization" trips. Because yeah, we all know that us addicted Dissers don't seem to know enough about Disney, do we???:rotfl:

My niece has quite the collection of bows, she's a fashion diva already, at the ripe old age of 1

As long as you don't make Chris spend more than a couple of hours a day in the parks I bet he's has an absolute fabulous time on your trip! And, you are right, we can never allow them to meet, they would sit there and plot how to break us of our addiction - we certainly can't have that!

It is a bummer that we will barely miss each other. I wish we had had more time to chat last May. Hopefully our paths will cross again someday!

:cool1:Yay Michelle!! You get to go to Disney! Are you doing MNNSHP? You will have a blast!

We are doing MNSSHP! We're going to the one on Sunday October 16th. We are plotting our costumes right now.......

I am attempting the 1/2 too..........:scared1:. I will be doing walk/run. I have been doing alot of walking & am on WW trying to shed some of this extra weight. I've lost 20lbs so far but have a long way to go. I have to start the training schedule in September but I have been slowly working my way up with excercise. I did 3 miles yesterday right on 16min/mile pace.

You go girl!!! And congratulations on your weight loss! I had lost about 20 pounds myself, but it has stopped coming off. I still walk 4 miles, 5 days a week, but I need to adjust my diet again....

It was our first year of Cub Scout and we had no idea what we were getting ourselves into. On a bus at 5 am, stuck in traffic, a long hike to the campsite, no time to set up or eat, rush, rush and then cramming in too many activites for a day and a half. Yup fun !!! NOT.:rotfl2:

I know Stacy, maybe you just need to extend your stay a bit..... :rolleyes1

If only, if only... :sad2: As it is I am playing hookie for 3 days which is something I have NEVER done in my teaching career. So, I will just have to suck it up!

I know a Tennessee teacher who did that last year, too.
She had quite a lovely time.

Well, that's what I heard, anyway. ;)

You are right about our guys...not only do they already have a lot in common, but the friendship would be cemented over complaining of their wives' Disney addictions.

As for paths crossing again in future...any chance you might be able to take another cruise with us in 2013? Now that you are an agent, you really have to research each of the ships, right? ;)

Well, being on a boat might not be the best way to make sure that Don and Chris don't spend much time togehter

I've forgotten, which cruise are you thinking of taking? Our next one will be 7 nights for sure, 4 simply wasn't long enough, 2013 could be a definite possibility too!

On the one hand, I don't want Don and Chris to be bad influences on one another. On the other hand, if Chris is surrounded by other men he likes hanging out with and has stuff in common with, I think his Disney tolerance levels go way up. So maybe I might be prepared to re-think things.;)

As for the cruise, I haven't choosen anything yet. (So far as I know the agendas aren't even released). My preference would be to cruise in May, Sept, Oct, Nov or Dec, but we are fairly flexible. I hope to be able to time it with a Disunplugged cruise, or one with Lou Mongello or AllEars if we are lucky.

I was thinking of just a 4 day cruise, mostly for budget reasons, preceded by 1-2 days at WDW to see the new Fantasyland, and followed by a couple days at Vero beach on DVC points. However, I will certainly be listening closely to your thoughts as to why you found 4 days wasn't enough and might rethink things, provided budget allows. My impression is that a day on the cruise is considerably more expensive than a day at WDW...however, I haven't spent too much time crunching the numbers and adding in all the things you have to pay for at WDW, such as food and park tickets. Maybe it isn't that much of a jump...

AHHHH! Congratulations on the trip!!!! :yay:

I would so LOVE to come in October as well. It would be so fun to hang with all you ladies!! I highly, highly doubt it will happen, but I'm not ruling it out either!

Now for the updates I missed...

This is one of my favorite pictures from the entire trip - all my handsome boys :goodvibes

The ketchup faces are so cute! What a fun waiter.

Great pic of your men too! :thumbsup2

So glad Don enjoyed the museum! It's always fun to see the ones we love in their element, isn't it?

I like your pics of the game too! I'm STILL jealous of your zoom! Too bad the Braves didn't do better that game.

I love this little face that she has started making, so funny!

Your niece is ADORABLE! And that cake is beautiful! 2 months you'd think would be plenty of time to order a cake...wow!

Great picture in front of the Florida sign!!

And AKL....:lovestruc I forgot how pretty the rooms were! They are just stunning!

Now that sounds like my type of camping. :rotfl2:

JUST for the record, the comfort stations at Ft. Wilderness have A/C bathrooms and hot showers!!!! And in our case we were sleeping on a 20" air mattress... so a few creature comforts!!! Now VA, Shennandoah's parks at least have running water and toilets... but definitely not as nice as the fort!!

I promise wine softens the edge off the whole experience... :rotfl2:

AKL looks so beautiful. I'm thinking that I'd better not stay deluxe for a bit, as I'm sure it would be tough to go back to moderates after that.

Love your niece's birthday pictures! What a cutie!

Will you be finishing this trip report soon, I really loved it!:)

First of all - I love AKL. It truly is one of my favorite places to stay. so glad you arrived safe and sound, even if you did have to eat Wendys instead of at the Mara.

Second - congrats on the October F&W trip. I can not even begin to say how jealous I am of all the DISers who will be there in just a few shorts months.

But, that's OK - chin up - because hell or high water - I am going in Oct 2012!!!!!!

Can't wait for more!

Yikes! Does NOT sound like a good time. Oh well, you probably learned a lot that trip right? Everything will take twice as long as you thought it would, and don't schedule too many activties :thumbsup2

If only, if only... :sad2: As it is I am playing hookie for 3 days which is something I have NEVER done in my teaching career. So, I will just have to suck it up!

Playing hookie can be fun :goodvibes

Wonder who that lovely Tennessee teacher was..... :rolleyes1

Yeah, those months would probably be out for us given our school/sports schedules. The older Justin gets the less willing he is to miss any practices/games, high school coaches aren't as forgiving as little league.

You know, I've didn't put a pencil to it, but I found the cruise to be a pretty good value since all of your food and entertainment is included in the fare.

Now that sounds like my type of camping. :rotfl2:

:thumbsup2

I love your TR....I'm an Okie myself...living north of you!

Well howdy neighbor! Thanks so much for reading! We are in Iowa this week - escaping that crazy heat we've been having at home.

AHHHH! Congratulations on the trip!!!! :yay:

That would be so awesome if you could come in October, especially since we just barely missed each other last trip - AGAIN!

You still haven't gotten that zoom lens?! I though Joe practically had it bought last time we talked about it!

The rooms at AKL were lovely, the pictures really don't do them justice at all.

Well, Ft. Wilderness sounds like I could maybe handle a stay there, maybe.....but I'd need a lot of alcohol

AKL looks so beautiful. I'm thinking that I'd better not stay deluxe for a bit, as I'm sure it would be tough to go back to moderates after that.

Love your niece's birthday pictures! What a cutie!

I'm afraid it will be tough to go back to mods, but I'm also afraid that my pocketbook will make it necessity!

Will you be finishing this trip report soon, I really loved it!:)

I'm sorry, I know I'm slow in updating! My boys summer schedules are crazy. We are actually in Iowa this week for a baseball tournament, I had hoped to get an update done before we left, but just couldn't fit it in. I did get some photos uploaded to photobucket though, so maybe I can get some time to do an update while I'm here.

I just knew I was going to love AKL before we even got there, it definitely did not disappoint!

I think we need an annual F&W DIS girls trip :thumbsup2

Ok, so I'm a huge slacker and have been MIA for quite awhile now. I need details on this newest trip of our Michelle! :goodvibes Is Don cool with it?

Don't know about anyone else....but I'm ready for another installment! :lmao::lmao:

Say 'Hi' to Iowa for me...I haven't been there in about 30 years!
