A ding is a cheap airfare from one city to another... you have to download the software from southwest .com to get the dings on your computer,,,, a bell rings or dings when a chaep fare is available

Just got fabulous DING tonight and DW said we can go! $40 Indy/MCO (before taxes, of course). Regular internet fare is double that.

The fares are updated frequently and are sometimes simply incredible. You just have to be patient, but then make a quick buy as they generally expire the same/next day.
