Or could someone lead me to a link that explains it? I'm really confused?? points? Isn't it really expensive? Are they all condo like rooms? Isn't just staying at moderates every year less expensive? thanks!

Go to the DVC boards and that will help you a lot.

Basically it is Disney's version of a timeshare, you buy points and every year you receive your allotment of points and can stay at different resorts - depending on availibility - during different seasons - depending on how many points you have.

Initial cost is around 16,000 + annual maintanence fees. Studios are equivilant to deluxes, then there are 1,2 and 3 bedrooms as well.

Again, go to the DVC boards, lots of information there.

In a nut shell...
-you buy a certain amount of points, as many as you want.
-yu then use the points at DVC resorts, nights use more points than weekends and there are also peek and off-peek seasons.
-they also have travel packages for outside Disney that your points can be traded for...

here is the DVC link...

there is a lot more but you would probably do better by going to a site then me giving you incomplete info. Plus if you stop at a DVC kiosk next time you are at the world or land they are very friendly and no pressure.

Oh, by the way. My DW did the math and if we paid cash for all the Disney vacations that we have taken since we bought DVC..we would have paid more than what we paid for DVC. We bought 250 points in Jan. 0f 1999 and that allows us to take one LONG vacation or two shorter vacations per year. We have even used them for the WDW/Cruise/Vero Beach vacation combo..not that rocked!!:thumbsup2

DVC is a prepaid vacation plan.

Unlike traditional timeshares, Disney Vacation Club membership ends on January 31, 2042. Membership at the new Saratoga Springs Resort and Spa will end on January 31, 2054. Although you are buying a "real-estate interest" and your purchase is actually deeded, your ownership ceases to exist after these dates.

It's very important to realize that you while you are purchasing a deeded and transferable interest, it is not a real estate investment, but rather a prepaid vacation plan.

When someone buys a DVC contract they have paid for a certain amount of points to be used for thier prepaid vacations.

Here are a couple of good info links:

Good Luck on your resarch!:wizard:

The Disney Vacation Club is a flexible point-based timeshare program. Members purchase an allotment of points for a one-time purchase price, and then receive the same amount of points to use each year until their contract end date arrives.

There are crrently six (6) DVC resorts at WDW, as well as one in Vero Beach and one in Hilton Head Island, for a total of eight. The newest DVC resort is the Animal Kingdom Villas (AKV).

Point-based timeshare programs should not be confused with fixed-week timeshare programs. Under a fixed-week program, owners typically purchase the right to use a single accommodation for the same week every year. Under DVC’s point-based system, the member purchases points which may be redeemed for stays at any time of year, in a variety of different-sized units at many different resorts.
