Could someone explain . . .

stateroom categories?
Interior rooms - categories 10 & 11
Oceanview rooms - categories 8 & 9
Veranda rooms - categories 4-7.

The letters (A, B, C, D) tend to differentiate between the "better" locations within a category. A & B tend to be more midship, C & D are located forward and aft.

I will expand on Shmoo's response. This is for the Dream & Fantasy, not sure how different on the Magic and Wonder.
Cat 10 is Deluxe inside (larger with split bathrooms)
Cat 11 are standard inside (no split bath)
Cat 8 are Family size OV; Cat 8A's have two large portholes, but no split baths, deck 5 & 6 only
Cat 9 are standard size OV
Cat 4 are Family size verhanda
Cat 5 - 6 are standard size veranda; 5Es have the larger extended veranda on the rear of the ship
