Great explanations Steve and Mal. I'd like to also welcome you to the Rewards Board.
The three programs that Steve mentioned are good ones to get started with. Be forewarned though, reward programs can be very addicting!!!!! I spend several hours a day doing reward programs and surveys. I know others that have it down to a science and spend about 5-6 hours a day doing different programs. I have a seperate email account for rewards programs and one for surveys so that I can keep everything straight. It is a good idea to get in the habit of writing down daily totals, purchases, etc. for each program for your own records.
I frequently shop online and this definitely helps my points to add up more quickly. There is a site I use before I purchase anything online. It's
$draweR.com (that's Reward spelled backwards) to see which program rewards for a particular merchant. Right now,
Mypoints is offering double points (4 points instead of 2 for each $ spent) on purchases that ship before September 15, 2002, so I've been shopping through them.
After I see which programs and merchants participate at $draweR, I then go to
CurrentCodes.com to see there are any discount codes I can apply to my order.
When shopping online, you must link throught the rewards program to receive points. For example, if you want to shop at OldNavy, don't go directly to OldNavy.com, but instead go to Mypoints and link through their site. Make sure your email and shipping information on your order matches your account information on the rewards site. This helps to ensure that you are properly credited.
I hope I didn't overwhelm you, just want to try to help you to get started. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask. There are no dumb or silly questions, just things you don't understand or haven't learned yet.
