Hi,
Hate to sound like a complete dingbat, but after reading posts on this board, I have to admit I just don't get it. Is there a link to an explanation or something. Looks like you are having fun!

Thanks!

Well, I can try. On the internet, there are various web sites that will reward you for visiting their sponsors' web sites, making purchases, answering surveys, etc. This board is mainly here for us to discuss these particular sites, offer help, and so on.

Some of the reward sites are (click on the underlined word to get to the sites):

Blink

RewardTV

My Points

If you need specific help, there's a thread near the top of this board that will explain many of these reward web sites to you.

Good explanation DisneyCub...

Let me add Welcome to the Rewards board hope you hang around awhile.

Also just to entice you many of us have paid for our WDW vacations doing rewards programs. It is a little longer process since 9-11 but it still can be done. This year alone I paid for most of our trip to the World.

Happy rewarding

Mal

Great explanations Steve and Mal. I'd like to also welcome you to the Rewards Board.

The three programs that Steve mentioned are good ones to get started with. Be forewarned though, reward programs can be very addicting!!!!! I spend several hours a day doing reward programs and surveys. I know others that have it down to a science and spend about 5-6 hours a day doing different programs. I have a seperate email account for rewards programs and one for surveys so that I can keep everything straight. It is a good idea to get in the habit of writing down daily totals, purchases, etc. for each program for your own records.

I frequently shop online and this definitely helps my points to add up more quickly. There is a site I use before I purchase anything online. It's $draweR.com (that's Reward spelled backwards) to see which program rewards for a particular merchant. Right now, Mypoints is offering double points (4 points instead of 2 for each $ spent) on purchases that ship before September 15, 2002, so I've been shopping through them.

After I see which programs and merchants participate at $draweR, I then go to CurrentCodes.com to see there are any discount codes I can apply to my order.

When shopping online, you must link throught the rewards program to receive points. For example, if you want to shop at OldNavy, don't go directly to OldNavy.com, but instead go to Mypoints and link through their site. Make sure your email and shipping information on your order matches your account information on the rewards site. This helps to ensure that you are properly credited.

I hope I didn't overwhelm you, just want to try to help you to get started. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask. There are no dumb or silly questions, just things you don't understand or haven't learned yet.

Great tips, thanks! There were a few in there I didn't know....

I just wanted to welcome you to the rewards board too. There are several actual rewards you can get to use toward your Disney trip. It's all about points and cashing in those points. Different rewards programs offer different rewards for those points you earned on their site.

Some reward programs offer Disney Dollars you can spend anywhere at WDW. Some will send you a check only, which you can cash & buy Disney Dollars or deposit into a savings account you might have to save for your trip. Some sites offer Webcertificates. Webcertificates is the name of an actual Mastercard that you can accumulate $ in. You can use this Webcertificate/Mastercard anywhere that takes credit cards. Other sites offer giftcertificates to restaurants, etc. that you can use on your trip.

Rewards programs take time and patience. But you can definately offset some of the cost of a WDW trip.

Good Luck!

What are some of the ones that offer Disney Dollars and cash? Are they very time consuming or hard to follow? Thanks in advance, as we all know, every little bit helps!

Disney Awards offers DD
Creation Rewards- DD
Milesource-supercert.used to buy Rest GC like Rain Forest Cafe
Blink-Webbies
MyPoints-Webbies

Survey Sites usually pay cash or GC's

I know I am leaving tons out.

I am new to the rewards board as well....and honestly it seems VERY overwhelming! Is it really worth the time it takes? As they say, "there's no such thing as a free lunch"....so I guess I'm wondering if you find yourself BUYING more stuff than you may normally just to reap the rewards?!?!

Once in awhile I will buy something I may "want" instead of "need", but I can honestly say that I enjoy the ease of shopping online. I have a busy life (like everyone else) and just don't like taking the time running from store to store to find the what I need at the best price. I figure my S&H charges (when I can't get them free) saves me gas, time and energy, so it is well worth it.

The rewards programs do take time, but I enjoy watching my points add up. I enjoy knowing that I am "earning" some money for my WDW trip. If I were you, I'd start with one or two programs to see if you enjoy rewarding. Good luck!

Buying stuff online thru rewards programs is only part of rewarding.

And I will only buy online if the deal is better than what I can get buying B&M.That means with shipping if any if the price is lower to buy online then by all means I do it.

But that said that is only a minor % of my rewards program totals.
And I have fully funded two vacations to WDW with rewards.Bought Christmas presents several years with no out of pocket expense. And have received 2 VCR's, 1 bottle warmer, several DVD's,and numerous other items through rewards and survey programs.

It is of corse an individuals choice to make whether or not it is worth it to them. For our family it is a no brainer as I am on the computer here at the DIS posting and reading anyway. So why not be paid while I am online. Of course I multitask, used to have it down to a science, need to work on that again kindof gotten off my routine.LOL

You can "leverage" your reward points by spending them at reward sites:bounce:

For instance, I just got the famous "Tupperware E-Mail" worth 500 points through My Points. I had a bit of $$ on my Webcertificate account and spent some for the item I ordered from Tupperware. That means I spent no out of pocket money, got an item I wanted AND earned more points besides:bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

Way to go, Thumper's Dad!!

I've done a little looking into this whole *rewards* thing...I can see where it could be addictive!

to surf the net doing these things 5 -6 hours a day and Work ? do you not work or are you part-timers or full-time and stay up really late.. I only get to use the computer for myself mainly after my kids are in bed but man i am tired too..? just wondering your secret michelle

Mal, you and I will be banging at the first inpatient treatment center! :D

My boys are 9 & 13, so they are pretty independent (except when they can't remember where "I" put something, ie. THEIR backpacks, THEIR homework, etc). I work full-time, but squeeze in an hour before work, an hour or two after and when the kids go to bed. If my kids were younger, it would be more difficult.
