Could someone explain how the paying cash instead of points works?

Is there a chart that tells us what the cash price is for Sun-Thur and weekends...for different times of year? I have read people mention paying some nights in cash to save points. Do weekends cost more than week day when paying cash? Just curious. Thanks.

Hi there

You get 25% off the rack rate for paying cash for a DVC room. It must be a DVC room - but it is for WDW resorts as well as non WDW (HH, VB.)

Unlike reservations through CR, the DVC "cash rate" does appear to be higher on the weekends than during the week.

We normally pay cash for going to HH instead of using points, because multiplying $10/point it usually turns out to be cheaper.

A a DVC member, if you run out of points, can you do your whole stay with the cash discount if rooms are available?

How much do HH rooms go for, on average?

So is there a chart that lists the rack rate for the various DVC resorts? I think I got a paper for SSR maybe. Thanks.

Hi there - absolutely. I called member services and booked HH on cash using my parent's contract information. The nice thing - they don't charge a deposit and I could pay for the entire thing when I got there.

Rates vary wildly from ridiculously high in the summer to ridiculously low in the winter. We were looking at going in December and we would have been paying under $150 a night for a TWO bedroom.

Despite my best attempts, I have never found the DVC cash rate online. (If anyone has it, please post!)

I have always just called DVC to get the cash rate. Also - it appears that they set aside a certain # for discounted cash, for no discount cash and a certain number for points. I called once and they had cash discount available one night, and points only available another night. It was strange... I was calling late, so I would say to just make sure to call early.

Oh okay. That is interesting how they break up the rooms too. I will have to explore this more just for future reference. Thanks.

Rack rates (full price) are here:

The DVC discount is 25%. Don't forget to add tax.

I've done it in the past, adding a Friday and/or Saturday night. If you book through MS, they will link the reservations so you don't have to move (assuming you booked the same type room).
