could I bring an air mattress?

 I feel silly asking this, but I plan on staying at POP 8/2008 and have been in a debate with my DH about whether or not he can bring his full-sized air mattress to our room. He isn't thinking of putting it on a bed, but on the floor so that he can "spread out more" I should add that we'll travelling with my DD5 and DD7. I've suggested connecting rooms with one being king-sized so that we'd all have a bed if we wanted to "spread out". He's worried since connecting rooms aren't guaranteed (nor king-sized beds), that reserving them would be risky and would be a waste of money. Has anyone ever brought one? Is there even any room to sqeeze one into there? Personally, I'd rather hope for the connecting rooms, but I do worry about having to split up if we don't. Would Mousekeeping object if we did bring one? We are driving down, so adding it to our van isn't a big deal.

Thanks for any suggestions

A twin would fit. A full size . . . I'm not so sure. There's not that much floor space (more like walking space around the furniture). I don't even think a full size would fit in most mod or deluxe rooms. But if you can buy or borrow a twin, you could do it.

I agree. there will not be enough room for a full size one at Pop.
You might be able to make room for a full size at the All Stars since the beds are moveable at the AS thus you get more useable floor space .
The beds are bolted to floor at Pop and are NOT movable.

Here is the layout of a Pop room:

I agree- I don't know where a full size mattress would fit at the POP. We stayed at POP last summer for one night before moving into BCV for the week. We had 5 people & reserved 2 rooms. As my niece was 22 and staying with two 14 year olds, I was not so concerned about adjoining rooms but did ask. We did received two rooms with connecting doors. Both rooms had double beds so DH and each slept in separate beds that night. The rooms are compact and we barely had space to walk around our luggage. (I didn't fully unpack for just one night. Otherwise, the luggage would have been out of the way.)

A full size mattress will not fit. We took a twin w/us recently and you could not walk around it once it was on the floor! There would be nowhere to put a full size matress!

We used a Queen Size mattress at the ASMovies last August. Being that we were three 20-something ladies on the trip, we decided we would want the extra room and not have to snuggle up every night

We moved the table and chairs into the closet area (we never use it anyhow) and put the air bed at the bottom of the bed near the door. There was no way to walk around the air mattress or bed closest to the door (just over). However there was a clear path on the other side bed to make it to the bathroom and such. Then during the day, we just leaned the bed up against the wall, so that we had plenty of room to walk around.

I would have never thought of moving the furniture:confused: , but that is just me!!:lmao:
That is a good idea! I will have to remember that for next time grandma goes with us!!!

Thanks so much fo all the replies! I think we might bring a twin mattress instead. Sounds like room would be very limited even for that. We could always leave it in the van if he likes the beds.

Has anyone ever gotten two rooms and then cancelled one once they got there if they were not connecting? I'm sure they'd charge us a deposit anyway at the very least.

I think your chances of connecting rooms are VERY high given the ages of your 2 children. I think half the rooms at the resort are connecting. I was at Pop last month with a friend and I in one room and her SIL and 3 nieces (22, 9, and 7) in the other room. I requested but did not receive connecting rooms just adjacent. I asked for connecting rooms again at check in but they said we'd have to switch from 50's to 90's. We chose to stick with 50's. They did say they could give us connecting rooms in the 50's the next day but adjacent worked for us.

Have you considered a suite at ASMu for a queen bed? I'm not sure they'd have availability as they are popular.

I actually read it here before we went or I would have never thought of it either!! Gotta love the Dis!:thumbsup2

Actually, given that there are two adults, the chances of connecting rooms would be average, not high. It's not an ideal situation, but if necessary the adults could each stay in separate rooms with one kid apiece. There've even been occasional reports of solo adults with enough minors to exceed one room's occupancy where they've been unable to get connecting rooms.

I have been looking into the suites, but they seem to fill up fast. Of course, the advantage of the connecting rooms is using a free dining discount IF they have it next year. :)
