I recently was at
Disneyland for
D23 and 5 park days. And the whole time I was comparing how FP+ would impact my days.
I must say, I think it would have devistated them. First up, my wife was sick and didn't go with my son and I the first two days, so that could have royally screwed her out of a big ride if the only day we got an FP+ for a big ride was one of her sick days.
Also, we never arrived at RD, which was 8 AM! Just too early for us, since none of us were 100%. We got there between 10 and 11 most day, so we missed the gravy RD times, and at least one FP. However, we still got 4 or 5 FPs every day, and that's at DL where there aren't a whole lot of FP rides, and the park was definitely busy, being peak Summer time.
FP+ would really not have given us any advantages, and would have severely limited us. Single rider was by far the biggest advantage, since ALL of our RSR, MH, and Indy rides were single rider. We easily bypassed 10+ hours of lines in total with single rider.
Although, I must admit, I'm very tempted to do a quick WDW trip in October, staying at a test resort, so we can abuse the heck out of the FP- system with old room keys. But I'd be too afraid that they close the loophole before our trip.
Still have yet to see ANYTHING to make me have any second guesses on my opinion about FP+ ruining WDW. I did notice the website that shall not be mentioned made a big deal about how their magic bands didn't cause tan lines, and that they are just awesome. Gotta wonder if Disney is paying people to do positive spin for the magic bands.
I know at D23, they had a HUGE magic band section in the Imagineering pavilion, probably twice the size of any other area, like those boring animatronics and effects, and nobody was in there.
