Could FP+ Ruin my experience?

FP+ is suppose to be tied your ticket making anyone able to use it once it is fully rolled out. You can stay on-site but still be unable to pre-book any FP+s if you do not have a ticket tied to your account.

i think this has always been a dirty little secret folks haven't been realizing. If you stay on site, you will be hooked into the system when you make those ressies, even if you are using old tickets.

However, if you are staying off site, I don't think you'll be able to put in your tickets, and start holding FP+ for a date in the future. If that was allowed, I could get on today and save FP+ with my tickets I have days still on. I think it would just be too difficult to do. You'd have tons of fake FP+ ressies that would never be used. APs could do this bigtime also, if they aren't limited.

Let's say I plan a week vacation to WDW in October, and I have some ticket days left, would they only let me save FP+ for as many days as I have on the tickets? What if I say "I will buy tickets when I get there"? If they allowed you to get FP+, everyone would save them for every day they were in Orlando, and then choose which day or two to actually hit the park when they actually get there.

Sorta like the AP I recently bought at Disneyland. I paid for it before I went, but I didn't have an AP NUMBER until I actually used the voucher (which did have a number, but not a meaningful one). Now, the DL hotel let me get the AP discount, but I had to show the AP at the front desk, once I had it.

There is no way FP+ will be given to people with nothing but vouchers for tickets from other sellers, or promises of tickets bought. You will have to physically HAVE the ticket in your hand.

Even if you are buying a Disney package. Let's say you say "I want length of stay tickets", and they are reserved for you. You could show up and say "well, money is a bit tight, so we are instead of having 8 day LOS tickets, we just want 3 day tickets". Will they let you keep the FP+ for three days of your choice, or will reseting that part of your ressie release those, and you then have to grab new ones again?

I really think this is meant to be a resort perk first, then a perk for those savvy enough to know about it. For Joe Sixpack showing up at the gate to buy the most expensive tickets for his family of four on their trip of a lifetime, he'll be screwed. Especially if the D23 rumor of none being held back is true.

I think this is just one more example of how horrible an idea FP+ is. If this double dipping is going to be possible from now until whenever the FP- machines disappear (probably at least 6 months), I don't think the number of "abusers" is going to continually decline during that time.

I don't think it's a reflection on FP+...it's a reflection of how lazy Disney is, for whatever reason, cost, whatever. In any case, I don't think it will take six months...I'm guessing by December 1, all resorts will be on FP+ and then the old FP machines will be shut off.

The old FP machines are there to service all guests, not just on site guests. LOL!

They won't be leaving in 2013. They aren't even going to start to roll out FP+ to offsite guests until 2014.

I hope that you're right. We might squeeze in another trip this December but we'd stay offsite. Of course, there might be so many testing that FP- might be more limited.

I dont see the machines staying long after all of the resorts come on the system. Especially if the "glitch" with all of the double dipping isnt changed. The math wont work. The August test had up to 8000 rooms in....once it is fully up for the resorts, there will be 25000 potentially. I cant see how there will be enough FPs for prebooking for the resort guests, plus their double dipping, plus offsite. Unless they fix the glitch.

Well double dipping isn't being considered and after testing, guests won't receive room keys so that's how they plan to solve this problem anyway. So there will only be ppl with MBs using FP+ and ppl with hard tickets using FP- and that solves all problems (lol, yeah right!).

Having enough FPs is completely irrelevant to the equation.

Well that would solve the glitch!

I still cant see them leaving the old FP machines up and then limiting onsite people to whatever the number is for FP plus. So offsite could pull more FPs than onsite?

We shall see :)

Maybe it's a silly question but why does disney have to limit to 3 or 5 or whatever they'll settle on?

Couldn't they do 3 pre scheduled in advance but then the ability to reserve day of based on current fp rules??

What good does it do to limit people?

Good point maybe they wont limit same day
Now whats left will be the question

How many do you think offsite could pull with so many taken 60days in advance (even 1 day in advance)? There won't be tons leftover but there will be some.

I think FP+ will destroy all life on earth as we know it.

And this is why you should never read the DIS while brushing your teeth.

Excuse me, now. I must Windex my mirror and, um, wash my hair. Well played, BeerMe, well played.

Yeah. I just don't see that happening. They won't limit onsite to 3 spots per day while offsite gets unlimited same day paper passes. That would be a VERY bad idea.

I see them rolling this out VERY quickly once it gets going, but allowing the double dipping until everyone is on it. Purely my guess though.

I agree, I think things will happen quickly.

Yes, I can see that. Will depend on the time of year and all that too.

And I think the opposite. I think "testing" will be going on through next Mardi Gras, Easter and Spring Break in some capacity with hopes to be rolled out by next Summer.

Of course, there will always be new components and add-ons to the system, but I think their initial full roll out will not be until after testing in each season (this summer, this fall, this winter, next spring, etc.).

Really? But aren't they leaving the testing resorts from August on for September? It seems like a gradual rollout to me, not really a test at all. It seems like things are happening fast now to me. We'll see I guess!

I mean, full removal of FP machines and everything. As of now, you can book FP+ 60 days in advance, and I think they will give people at least 60 days notice to let them know FP+ will be the sole distributor of FP for the parks...so, I would expect at least 4 months from whenever that decision is announced.

I don't expect them to say in February that March 1 things will be live.

Maybe a January (New Years Eve announcement on ABC) announcement that things will go live in April or May. :confused3

I would be SHOCKED if they try and cram this in before the Christmas and New Years rush. Not impossible, but I'd be pretty surprised.

All I know is my 180 ADR window opens this week for end of Feb trip & I'm nearly paralyzed by not knowing if we will be using FP+ or not - my park strategy will be very different if we are ... And so will most of my ADRs... I'm honestly considering canceling and just pulling kids from school & going next fall - surely it'll all be set by then!

You will more then likely have FP+ if you are over 180 days out. Plus, if anything FP+ will make it easier in the end.
