Could blackout dates on passes change midstream?

I am a preferred APH but I am coming with a big group. I had everyone adjust their rates when APH option became available and now they need to decide on which AP to get. I'm thinking seasonal as the cheapest since their motivation was the hotel rate. Also, return trip during the current blackout dates is unlikely. Could the dates change or could a concert be scheduled at this point? we are Memorial Day weekend 5/24-5/29. If something did happen, they could upgrade at that point right? Any other considerations? For the record, we will probably all pay outright for VB for one day rather than upgrading mine or going 3 park for theirs. We are one trip annually for the most part. thanks in advance for your input!

I'm not an expert, but... I know they can lift blackout dates, but I don't know if they ever add blackout dates. I would think that would be a breach of contract, since they state which dates the passes are not valid prior to purchase.

You are in the same boat I am in...annual trip, use cheapest AP that is good for two trips. We will be there starting May 23rd. They will not change the blockout dates for the calendar year 2017. They could add a concert, but that is unlikely.

So, for Seasonal Passes, we know what the Spring Break 2017, summer 2017 and Christmas 2017 blockout dates are...but, we do not know the exact blockout dates for the first half of 2018. We may end up taking a Spring Break trip and May trip in 2018, but it will depend on blockout dates, which were nowhere near our school spring break, this year...so, we will see.

2018 blackout dates are not listed yet

With the 4 tier ap system, don't know how it will play out for next year

I can only guess at this point
Obviously the summer months will have the black outs as this year
is my guess

I was taken back when blackout dates for EE were listed for preferred ap holders

It is in my time frame for EE this October but I can still get in for EE as staying onsite

For those that need the info now, email guest services and ask when 2018 ap blackout dates will be posted

Upgrading the ap is always a possibility

Op, UO can make changes at anytime
I have seen black out days lifted last year
Unknown if black out dates can be added without a decent notice

I think that once the block out dates are listed for the calendar year, they cannot add to them. They definitely can, and do, take some away depending on attendance.

Yep, I guess they could add but that would be a disaster if they do. Don't see it happening.

I think I've only seen that the blackout dates are set for the rest of the calendar year. So - they could add more to 2018. They could upgrade if that happened - but I also don't remember Memorial Day weekend being blacked out as part of summer before so my hunch is that they're good.

Have they ever taken any way during spring break? We planned an on-site weekend getaway and my kids are blocked out for the first day. We're not going to upgrade, but it would be nice to have that day to go to the park for a few hours.

I've seen them lifted in the summer quite often.

Blackout dates for volcano bay won't change as it will be packed everyday of July expect it to actually close everyday do to overcrowding

Me too - hadn't seen spring break but I didn't pay much attention to that in the past. Our passes aren't blocked out for summer though. (Well, except for VB but there's no way around that for us anyway). It's Spring Break that we messed up with our planning a little. Disney's passes aren't blocked that day for spring break, but Universal's are - so I was hoping there was a chance Universal would change it.

So I'm guessing there is a typo in the link to the new AP upgrade e-mail I just got that indicates June 10-13 as the summer seasonal pass blockout dates (when it should be June 10- Aug 13) The formatting is messed up, but this is what is says (oops!)

Universal Studios Florida™

Jan. 1–3
Apr. 8–22
Jun. 10–13
Dec. 21–31

Universal’s Islands of Adventure™

Jan. 1–3
Apr. 8–22
Jun. 10–13
Dec. 21–31

Got the same email. Dates seem off to me too

OT but don't think Disney's are in place yet either, I'm watching for March '18
