Thought I would post a poll to see how people feel about the couch vs bed in any/all DVC properties since the other post is specifically targeted at OKW.

The question is tough. I think of it as, "what do you want in the second bedroom?"

I think that question is undoubtedly going to be two queens.

I agree that dedicated studios are probably best with a queen and a sofa. I certainly don't want a queen and a sofa in the second bedroom of my two bedroom unit.

I agree with Richyams. The two bedrooms should have the two beds , and studios can have the sofa bed option.

Rich...

Was it ever determined for certain that OKW has no dedicated studios? I posted earlier that I don't recall a lock-off door in the last studio we stayed in.

There are dedicated studios at OKW. My MIL stayed in one a couple years ago in building 26.

The number is extremely small. I am not even sure Doc had them noted on his building-room type sheet. I mean very small. For some reason, I am thinking five, that is only slightly more than a guess.

I know I wouldn't be happy checking into a two bedroom without two queens in the second bedroom.

I wouln't be please either Rich. We usually stay at OKW and the two queens is definitely one of the reasons. Our daughters, 17 and 19, don't share a bed well (our youngest moves around a lot and steals all the covers). And they really don't like to sleep on a sofa bed. I guess that they are spoiled just like their Mom. But hey, that's one of the main reasons we bought DVC. We like to be spoiled!

When I originally voted on this poll, this was my thinking. First of all, I was taking into account no dedicated studos in this thinking. So I voted for a 50/50 mix, figuring that for now while I have kids I would want a 2 bedroom with 2 queen beds, but when my kids get older I might want a studio to save on points.

But the more I thought about this the more I thought, who am I kidding, I will stay in a 1 bedroom even if I don't have kids. Then I thought, well it would still be fine if it were 50/50 for those couples who want studios with the couch. Then I remembered, this poll is asking what do I prefer, so if this poll is truly what I prefer and not what would be nice for everyone else, I guess I would never use the studio so for me, the more 2 bedrooms with 2 queens the better. So I want to change my vote, from 50/50 mix to 2 queen beds.

At different times there are going to be different things that suit me. So I think a mix is the best option, BUT as WDW is basically a family destination I think that should be reflected in the ratio. I would think a ratio of 75-80% having 2 beds with 20-25% one bed and a sofa bed would be a better choice.

The OKW studios are probably the only ones big enough for two queens. I haven't stayed in any of the other studios, but the BWV and I know I hated having to open that sofa bed every day. And it took up so much space that we didn't have in the room. I'd much rather have two queens. That's what you get in the deluxe resorts. Moderates have two doubles and I hate that.

Deb & Bill.... Half of the 2 bedrooms at BCV will have 2 queen beds in them. They won't be in any of the studios though since the ones with two queens will all be the dedicated 2 bedrooms, but they will fit (I am not saying how comfortably the will fit, but they will fit).

I voted a bed and a sleeper/sofa. I was thinking mostly of the layout when using it as a studio only. Since I have two DD's who REFUSE to sleep with each other, this layout allows DW and I to have the bed, one girl on the couch (not pulled out) and one girl on the floor on an air mattress. And later when it's just DW and I on trips, the extra room will be nice as well as providing a nice sitting/reading area in the room.

I can see that when the studio is used as a second bedroom it would be nice to have two beds. It's just that I foresee us using the studio as a stand alone more often than as a second bedroom. So that definitely shaped my response.
