We are a family of three and are considering taking dd16's boyfriend with us in our next trip. My question is, can we request and will they give us a cot for him to sleep on? They will not be sleeping in the same bed for obvious reasons and the only other option would be for him to sleep in the same bed as DH. Although we like him... That would just be awkward. So can we do a cot orate there other suggestions. We do not want the added expense of a suite as it will only be 4 of us. TIA

We use an inflatable twin mattress. It fits OK between the bed and the door, and we prop it up during the day. We fly, and the mattress and pump fit well into a small tote for a carry-on.

There is a charge for renting the cots. Bringing your own mattress is free.

ETA: We bring a twin fitted sheet for the mattress, but mousekeeping will bring regular sheets and a blanket for you.

Most of the moderates have gone to queen sized beds and have had to eliminate the cots. POR no longer has roll-a-way cots.

You are better off bringing the air mattress; most of them now have an interior pump.

I've heard that they have elimiated cots/roll away beds.

If you stay in POR AB rooms, they have a murphy bed that can fit child/teanager/smaller adult. Maybe your DD could sleep on it.

They would have to book the preferred category to get in AB. People with reservations of 4 people are only guaranteed AB if you book preferred.

I know this isn't what you asked...but your sig. says that your trip is over a year away, and your DD is only 16...I'd think there is a better chance than not that your DD and her boyfriend will no longer be together?

This is something that never even occurred to me. Thank you I think this may be what we do.

Thanks, you're right that isn't what I asked...LOL. we have considered that this all may be a moot point by this time next year. But they have been dating a year already and we are considering moving the trip up, so i just want to have all the information I can.

We got a free upgrade a few years ago, and were given a room at POR with the trundle bed. It worked great for us. Other than that, we would bring a twin blow up mattress, and just prop it on it's side during the day. We never had any issues at all with the air mattress.

We had a room with the murphy bed last week at POR - a 16 yr old boy would not fit in it- my 11 yr old daughter who is 5 2 ( and 75 lbs soaking wet) fell, out, and her feet were hanging off the end a bit. My 5 and 9 yr olds loved it when they had their turn sleeping in it! The air mattress would be your brst bet.

I saw pictures of the Murphy bed and knew instantly it would not work. DD is 5'9 and so is her BF. If he comes with us it will definitely be an air mattress if we can not get a roll away bed.

We used a cot for my DS11 this past April at CSR. It was a nice bed actually. It took a little "arranging" of the furniture in the room to fit it, but it was totally do-able. They say it's about $16 a day, but when I went to the front desk to pay up, they didn't charge me. YAY! I think they do this occasionally - but not always. It would be hit-and-miss, I think.

We typically use an air mattress when going to a relative's house for Thanksgiving (LOTS of people to put up) and it works fine. I'm sure either way would work. But air mattresses are quite heavy, so if you didn't want to tote that and the pump, the cot is always available and a pretty nice bed.

Good luck!!
