Costuming CPs?

I'm just a lurker on here but Costuming is something I know about so I'd figure I'd reply. :goodvibes I worked in entertainment costuming from August 06 - May 07. I worked in MK & AK on parades, characters, and shows. I was always jealous of attractions and merch people who got 5-7 hour shifts. Costuming shifts will never be under 8 hours. During peak seasons, or for parades, they will be 10-12 hour shifts. Usually only 6 day work weeks during busy seasons, 2 week at the end of December, Thanksgiving week, Spring Break, etc. The basics are laundry, washing it, sorting it, and putting it away. You also set up the costumes for the characters so all of the pieces are together. Entertainment costuming is characters, parades, & shows while operations (ops) costuming is working with regular cast members and their costumes. I've heard very boring, lol. I kept a blog about it when I was there so if anyone would like to read it, just let me know. I can answer more questions if you have them!

I'll also add some things. Yes, costuming is mostly: girls, drama majors, and gay guys. But heterosexual guys will pop up now & then, lol. Shift times will vary. Character room shifts, where the costumes are kept for the characters that are in the parks, will vary from 7-3, 9-5, 1-9, all the way to 430-1230, which were the shifts I usually got. Day parade at MK shifts were 1030-630, while Specto shifts vary on the time of the parade. Examples, 230-11pm for 1 parade at 7pm and 430pm-3am for double parades at 9 & 11pm.) AK shifts never go past 8-9pm because the park closes early so that's always nice, lol. :) If you're in the character room, you'll get bored easily and want to be moved to a parade or show. Parades & shows you are constantly busy & moving.

Liz (I'm presuming that is your name), I would love to read your blog! :) Could you post a link?

Yup, that's me, Sorry. :) I actually kept it on my MySpace page and you have to be a friend of mine to read it, so just search for "Elizabeth Benvenuto" on MySpace and mention you're from the Disboards and I'll add you. :)

Yea, I lurk over at the Weddings & Honeymoons section for ideas but I come over here ocassionally. :)
