I have a question about MNSSHP and costumes. I don't plan to wear one, but wanted to dress up my DD (8 - by then). She has beautiful auburn hair and would be perfect for Ariel, but I would think more comfortable in an Alice or Minnie dress. I wouldn't do the plastic shoes, b/c that would be torture. I would probably dress up some white buddies with plastic jewels and glitter paint, etc. I'd heard that they take a photo of the child or family and I would like to have her pic taken in a costume, but not if she is going to be miserable this whole night. :sad1: Do many people dress up for that night and what type of costumes do you see? I guess I am wondering if it's worth the trouble or if there are any other good options. Thanks for your help. :wave2:

I'm torn on the costume thing too. I don't plan on dressing up (I'll probably wear a Halloween t-shirt and shorts), but I don't know what to do for DD5. We're really having a hard time coming up with a something that will be comfortable, cool, and easy to move around in and get on and off rides. We're going to 2 parties, so I'm thinking now that she'll dress up for the first one and then depending on how that goes, maybe just wear a Halloween t-shirt for the second one.

DH and I will not be in costume either. We bought two tee shirts from an old MNSSHP and will wear them with shorts. We just bought our DS a "pint-sized pirate" costume on Ebay for $8. They sell these type of costumes at Walmart and K-mart. It is an adorable one-piece outfit with a foam hat. He will be cool in it and it is not cumbersome, so getting on and off the rides at MK should be a breeze. What's great about this costume is that we will get to use it at MNSSHP, on Halloween, and on DCL next year for pirate night. DS was originally going to dress up as Buzz for MNSSHP, but we were afraid that he would become overheated.

This is our first mnsshp and we are sooo excited! we are trying to do a family theme costume type of thing. we have two ideas

Autumn (6months old):
Martian (from Toy Story)
Jiminy Cricket (Pinocchio)

Sal (my husband):
Buzz lightyear
Pinocchio

Me
Mrs. Potato Head (since i will be 7 months pregnant)
Blue Fairy

Thank you for your responses. I haven't been to Florida in October so I don't know just how hot it gets, but anyway some of those dresses are so itchy. I think I'll go with some of your ideas and we'll wear Halloween T-shirts and maybe dress DD's up a little with black and orange hair accessories and earrings. I had to ban myself from the DS for a little while. It is really easy to get carried away in that place. DD was Pocohantas last year with the whole deal and it got really expensive with the boots and wig and other accessories. She was adorable but she was ready to get that wig off long before trick or treating was over. Does the DS have good Halloween t-shirts with Disney characters on them?

I've gone twice now with 2 DDs and they wore princess costumes both times and even though it was hot, they did fine. No itchy complaints.

We brought a change of clothes, or wore shorts and a t-shirt underneath so when they were done with the free photo and trick or treating they could take the costume off.

They usually wore the costume till around 10:00p.

The photos came out great!

Yes, it will be hot. Both times I went it was pretty hot. Last year there were lots of mosquitos too!

I just simply would not think of taking my kid to MNSSHP without letting her dress up! Its toooo fun!!! This time we are taking an All Girls trip - 4 moms and 5 little girls (1 is 6, 4 are 4). We are having a hard time coming up with costume ideas for all the little girls. (Other than princesses.) And us mom's want to do something fun, too. Any ideas for 9 chics?

just my dd (then 3) and I went to MNSSHP and we both went at Minnie Mouse. The costumes were cool and not itchy. I did buy the Minnie shoes too and my feet hurt by the end of the night and for the bus ride back to POFQ I slipped on my crocs..LOL

We are trying to plan another trip up for this years MNSSHP and some of the ideas so far are:

I have purchased from both online stores and never had a problem.

We also had our pictures done but in a rush to get to the bus I forgot my gloves and ears at POFQ
