Costs vs. Level of Satisfaction

I have seen the same number of drunks on DCL as CCl with all the cruises that we have done.

I never have seen the drunk fights that you can find on U tube. Only Carnival.

The Carnival short cruise we took years ago we were actually woken up 2 nights but the early hours drunken group talking loud and bouncing off he bulkheads.

for us, we are the typical family dedicated to all things Disney although we now have at least a day in Universal during every visit now because they have really stepped up their game and in alot of ways are out pacing Disney as far as development is concerned. With that said, we always stay on Disney property because even though its far more expensive, the experience and "magic" is the value. If I am spending money, I want to get the best experience possible. In regards to DCL, I think thats exactly what you are paying for. Its the beauty of the ship and the staterooms, the outstanding service, Kids Clubs, Castaway Cay, and that overall Disney "Magic" that nobody has been successful replicating on Land or Sea. For us the key to pricing DCL is being flexible with your dates, you can really find some great deals if you take the time to search all of the available sailings and book early. We always stay at least 4A and have done a 3 night for as little as $1300 for a 3 night Dream. Our current Cat T for a 3 night in April is $3600.

You need to go to the sports bar on Sundays during football season.

I expect more if I'm paying more but different people value different things. If I was going to pay $14,000 to go on a 7-Day Disney cruise I know I would be much happier spending $14,000 and going to Europe for 2 weeks. But I know people who think going to Europe is a waste of money.

I was referring to the sports bar on the Fantasy I've seen a fight there. Seahawks fans were out of control. I can't remember who the opposing team was, but there were few chairs turned over. It was the most entertaining thing the whole cruise. I've seen the shows so it was fun to have a different kind of entertainment. :rolleyes1

I'm following the TR of a cruiser who was on the same cruise as the writer whose article spawned this thread. The TR is still in progress, but it sounds like there may have been a couple of very large family groups (matching t-shirt types), two of whom were apparently somewhat obnoxious (my word not hers). (TR poster sounds to have had a fantastic time in Alaska though.)

Remember "The Whiners" sketches on Saturday Night Live several years ago? It rings funny because some people are exactly like that.
