Ok the self-justification train was running FULL steam ahead and not stopping for anything on this one.
With Southwest's recent 3 day sale and $99 fares, it was actually less expensive to fly in a day early, add a one-night stay at a value resort, fly out a day late, and add another one night stay at a value resort night onto my trip in December 2018 than it would be to fly on my originally scheduled days.
My ACTUAL trip is at BLT DEC 3-10, but If I wanted to fly in early on Monday(DEC 3rd) morning it would cost me an extra $60-$180 Per person, depending on the airline. Multiply that by 4 people flying (because my 3 year old is an airline 'adult'...) and it is painfully obvious that we just need to spend more nights at Disney
The end of the trip was the same situation. I guess Monday is an extremely popular time to leave Orlando, but Tuesday evening isn't. $99 Fare; savings x4= another value night! Room-only reservations at some Value resorts are only about 120-140/night
So thanks to Disney Magical Express and Bell services, we'll fly in late on a Sunday get to (probably) All-star room around Midnight(?), get a full night's sleep, bus to Magic Kingdom and play while my luggage is transferred to BLT. We'll walk over there when we're finished at MK and check in for our 'planned' vacation. Same thing in reverse on the next Monday, and we'll hang out in a park or at Disney Springs before DME to the airport late evening. Changing '7-day' tickets into '8-day' tickets was around $10/ticket (!?)
I'm sure I'll blow out any real savings with food or 'last day depression', but both are better than just handing it to the airlines.
Crazy
