We don't have it here in Australia... so i am clueless...:confused3

I will be visiting the DL outlet store and Target in Fullerton- should I include it too?

What is it like?

Thanks heaps:upsidedow

Here is what wikipedia says about Costco:
Costco Wholesale Corporation (NASDAQ: COST) is the largest membership warehouse club chain in the world based on sales volume, headquartered in Issaquah, Washington, United States and founded in Kirkland, Washington. [1] with its flagship warehouse in nearby Seattle.[2] Costco's Canadian operations are based in Ottawa, Ontario.[3] It is the fourth biggest general retailer in the United States, after Wal-Mart, The Home Depot, and Kroger.

You have to have a membership to shop there, you buy things in large quantities (groceries etc) either for your business or home. You can also get jewelry, clothes, electronics.

Have you heard of Sams Club? It is just like that.

It's like shopping in a warehouse, but the important thing for the OP is that it's a membership store where you have to show your card to get in the front door. It's definitely not worth the $50 membership price for one visit.

however, i would add In n Out to your list to visit as a replacement for your costco visit. :)

Must be like Campbell's Warehouse here in Aus. :upsidedow

You actually can shop Costco once if you are visiting and really want to. Go in the exit and to customer service, tell them you want to check out Costco and that you are thinking of getting a membership. They give you some kind of paper thingy that you can use at the register in order to buy your stuff. But, you can only do it once. Not all of the prices at Costco are better than other places, and you have to buy huge quantities. So, Target may be your best bet anyway.

And I second In n Out! It is a fun place to go and they have good burgers, we don't have one where I live, just remember to ask for your burger "animal" or something like that. I can never remember the correct term. :confused3

Guess where I am going for lunch. Thanks for the idea.:thumbsup2

where where where? ;)

hahaha, Costco has cheap yummy food too. :) There's quite a bit to eat. There's a very famous bbq place called Lucille in Brea. Its GOOOOOOD GRUB!

They mainly sell stuff in bulk and really the membership fee isn't worth it for one visit. We have Costco in the UK and i'm a member (you can use the card in any store worldwide) but have never felt compelled to visit one in the US, the normal supermarkets are good enough value for me!

There is an In 'n Out across the street from the Disney Character Outlet!!!!

LOL.... First we eat .... THEN we shop!!!:lmao:

And if I am right there is a COSTCO in one of the adjacent parking lots. Someone correct me if I am wrong.

Actually you want this location, the one in Fullerton:

The Fullerton location might actually be easier to get to from HoJo's since it's a straight shot up Harbor Blvd.

And yes, the Costco is at the north end of the same shopping center.

Ummm nope ... haven't heard of that either...

emum- I had forgotten about Campbells- haven't seen one for years!

Thanks for the help everyone, looks like DL outlet store then In and out, then Target (yes shopping is sometimes more important than food!! :rolleyes1 )

We will be getting a taxi- how will I be able to get one back to Hojos???

Also it's just me and my 3 girls (aged 7,8 and 11) is it safe enough to walk round, across to Target etc?

Yes, it's safe. Whenever I stay at the Hyatt Orange County, I just walk across the street to get there, without feeling uncomfortable about the walk.

If you do visit the Target at Chapman and Harbor, go to the Dollar Store next door to the Target. They have Disney souvenirs that your 3 girls would love. Everything is truly $1 (unless they have upped their prices). You can get Disney-themed pencil sets, stationary sets, notebooks, etc.

Costco is so much more than Campbells!!!

I LOVE :lovestruc Costco. My Costco card is one of the first things I pack when I go to the States - I leave in 7 weeks, and it's already in my purse ready to go.

They have really good towels there and you can get books & DVD's really cheap. It's also just really fun to look at all the food! (And if you go around lunch time you get to sample stuff too!!)

As for Target - rather than walking - just catch the bus up Habour and get off at Chapman - it's really easy and only costs about $1.25. Both bus stops are right near your hotel.

Enjoy your shopping! I know I will!!!

I think the OP is talking about the Target at Harbor and Orangethorpe in Fullerton, but there happens to be a "Dollar Tree" store in that area too, just a few doors west of the Disney outlet store. Same deal, everything for $1.

Another nice restaurant I'd recommend in that area is Ruby's Diner, on the corner of the center that has the Target store. The Ruby's people helped Disney with the 50's diner at EuroDisney (now DLP).

Yep, free samples of food is a bonus: better knows as "free lunch"

Actually FYI, costcos is coming to Oz, it's starting in Melbourne and then spreading every where else.
