So we had DD's party this weekend. There was plenty of cake leftover probably half the cake so I sent half of that with DH to work and the other half I froze since DD's real birthday is this Wednesday, we will use it then. It was worth it to get Costco's cake for $17 instead of a small supermarket cake for the same price and this way we had leftovers.

***************************

I called and they said it feeds about 40 people. I think they must be really small slices by the look of the cake? Do you remember how many it fed?

I would say that is true. It's a very thick cake--two generous layers of cake with a good amount of filling in between. I've had parties for 25-30 people with decent size slices of cake cut, and I've always had a ton left over.

We are inviting about that many people to DD's first birthday and I will be buying a Costco sheet cake.

Both the vanilla and the chocolate are really good.

I agree. ::yes:: Plus if you are planning to add a scoop of icecream with it, you'll definitely have plenty.

We get them at work all the time. Depending on the people, it might be sparse for 40 people. We have 70 people at work and we get two cakes and it's gone. But we are "eaters.":goodvibes

Thank you for your quick replies. I didn't realize it was a thick cake. I will get one for our party.

Standard "caterer's cut" for sheet cakes is a slice 1" x 2". Calculate according to the way you actually plan to slice it.

We fed them to a school last year once a month...100 kids, two cakes. No problem. Some kids were absent, some didn't eat cake, but we always had some left over. I'd say 40 is a very good estimate.

Best value for cake going, IMO. Can't beat serving 40 people cake for less than $18!

We had them at work, and the vanilla is a lot sweeter than the chocolate!

Plus all the extra icing for the decorations/designs..... there's a whole lot of sugar on the top besides the basic layer of icing

Costco sheet cakes are yummy! And they do feed a lot of people. Cut small squares and it's still a good size piece. They will even decorate it in squares if you need to make sure you have enough.

We had one for DDIL's baby shower. Had about 35 people and lots and lots left.....but there was other food too.
Very yummy!

I just ordered one for my daughter's graduation party. The baker told me there is 2 POUNDS of mousse filling in between the two thick layers of cake! It will definitely feed 40.

We've had them several times and I don't think we've ever run out of cake.

We bought two sheet cakes from them, one for DD's birthday and the other for BIL's graduation. We now pretty much have a full cake sitting in our freezer. It's great cake and very rich. You should have plenty.

2 pounds of filling!!! Oh dear, I better not have a second slice :rotfl:

You don't want to KNOW how many calories are in a small slice of that cake....but it is well over 300 (and that's a caterer's cut). :cheer2:

They are pretty darn huge. I have a confession to make: I have bought a cake from Costco knowing full well I would either throw a large portion of it out or bring it to work. Why? It's quite a bit cheaper than other much smaller cakes elsewhere. I feel quite sinful if I end up tossing the cake, but the alternative would be for me to eat it, and that would be very, very bad.

*la la la la la la la* I don't wanna know! :p

Why does it have to be so good????? :confused3;)

Bought one decorated like that and yes, the predecorated squares looked small but were plenty for one person. That cake is AMAZING and even better frozen!
