Costco

Love Costco, but have to be very careful. Luckily the last time I was there, I was good, I only spent $80. Yes...$80!

I love going to Costco. The problem is, there are only two of us and I usually walk out of there with enough stuff for a family of 10!

I used to go to Costco back when we lived in IL, 3+ years ago. Once we moved to Florida I was so excited they had BJ's so I joined that. Now I am thinking of switching back to Costco when we move to NH. I remember that I like the meat from Costco better than BJ's I think.

Costco's stuff is definitely higher quality, plus a greater variety. Not to mention (again) the food at the snack bar!!!!

BTW, has anyone heard of (or have near you) City Club?

We just had one open up down here. We went for the first time the other day. It was alright, but I still prefer Costco.
I was just wondering if this is something new in the states as well.

I have learned not to wonder, stay on task. Repeat just the list. Don't take the kids they go to the samples.

I have learned no matter how cheap if you aren't going to eat it or use it in the next few months it is NOT cheap. I have a rather large jar of sundried tomatoes in my frig as testament to this revalation.;)

I have the Sam's membership and DH has the Costco (this is from his parents). So I need to go to Costco with him, but I want to get from the list and he wants to go up an down every aisle!! So we always spend way too much.

Now though it is worse, he has a Costco near him at work, so he goes without me! Last week he went with the new coupon book and spend 250!! I got lots of bottled water, anyone thirsty!! LOL

I go to Samsclub since is right near me and I can go in and just pick up the bread and eggs I need, I am very good at only buying what I need when I am alone :).

about 2 years ago I think I started a thread about the giant whatever you had bought at Costco that was still around in your kitchen. Back then it was the 1000 pieces of wax paper- came out of the box in sheets. At that time it was at least 5 years old.

Guess what
I still have it!!
Still going strong! And yes I use wax paper. It's as if the paper multiplies in the pantry. I still have a bunch left in the box!!

I miss those spinach cheese ravioli things.

Yes, but do any of you remember when it used to be called The Price Club? We still call it that even though the name is really Costco.

BTW- I spent $500 there yesterday.:sad2:

Am I the only person who spends a billion dollars every time they go in there? I did a big shop today and I have to tell you that I could literally have bought even more. I just love shopping there! Anyone else?:cutie:

I really like it there, but have to limit myself.

Last time I got Mickey Mouse chicken nuggets (shaped in his ears), Pull Ups, water, strawberries, and garbage bags.

I was happy with my garbage bag purchase, their brans for only $10.99 I think it was and its 200 bags!!! I spend about $7.99 on 45 hefty bags. Never again will I do that. And so far the Costco ones are great, haven't ripped or anything.

:)Oh I totally agree about the Kirkland trash bags......I'll never buy anything else.

Terri

Oh my. Yes. And, be sure to try the Curly's Baby Back Port Ribs (in the refrigerated meats section) - full slab of ribs for ~$15 - half hour in the oven (we wrap in foil wrap to reheat) and ready to eat. Absolutely delicious.

I also like buying romaine lettuce, baby spinach, and avocados - makes us eat healthy to eat it up before it goes bad! Amazing how much stuff I throw spinach into with the ease of that blister pack of baby spinach.

Also, surprisingly, the canned chicken meat has become a staple in our house for quick salads and curries.

I also agree about the Kirkland brand trash bags. I also recommend the laundry detergent and fabric softener.

Our closest Costco is 40 minutes away - wish there was one closer!

My Mom and I have a "contest" or whatever you want to call it... We are not even sure if it is whoever spends less wins or whoever spends more... But we call each other and just say our totals... One day I called as I was leaving Costco and told her, "$997.56" She hung up on me!!! She called back and said my phone must be broken... it sounded like I said a thousand bucks! I said umm, yup... I then had to ask her to come get me and the kids and take us home cause there was no room in the van... :rotfl2: I took me a week to get it all put away... It was last September and I went meat and back to school food shopping... I normally do a huge trip twice a year then just fill in monthly as needed...

$285 on Friday

Go once a month and stock up on stuff. Love hte kirkland brand, have not been disappointed yet. Their tuna is the best, never would have tried it, but someone else walking by said try it it is the best and we did :rotfl:

I must have better impulse control than I thought because we've never walked out of there with over $200 in the cart - and that would be a rarity. Now, we DID buy furniture there but that doesn't count =)

I looooooooooove Costco. We only go if we know we can afford what we are going for and then a little extra. ;) Our typical trip is $60-$80 and includes most of the staples we always get there.

Oh Honey! I spend that in the first aisle! I can't resist the supersize stuff! Of course we are a larger family so we do actually use the stuff. I will say though that I saw the largest can of corn ever there the other day and was almost tempted to buy it but I knew that there was only so much corn we could eat at one time.:cutie: I still wonder though......;)

Wow! How many carts did you have, lol??? We filled a cart today, basket & underneath, and the total came to $137!

:rotfl: Full disclosure: it's just 2 adults and 3 dogs in this house, I'm sure things will change when there are children involved!

The real brillance of Costco is that I've never bought a Kirkland branded product that hasn't been high quality. You can buy the Kirkland paper plates and cheese and know its going to be good. That's where they beat the other warehouse chains to a pulp.

I went today and walked out only $58 the poorer. I bought three slabs of ribs (they turned out great, had the inlaws over for bbq tonight), two whole chickens, a bag of ciabatta and a giant jug of laundry detergent

Has anyone tried Kirkland diapers? I keep thinking they're probably great, but I'm afraid to try the giant size and be wrong.

I love to people watch.. Have you ever watched what others buy, and wondered what they were going to do.

Yesterday, I saw a couple w/ 12 of those big big containers of almonds. I couldn't help but wonder what the heck they were going to do with them:laughing:

I do this all the time! You just know who's having a party or who's stocking up. Then I start imagining the whole party situation! If that person's doing the grilling, what kind of people will be there, if it'll be on a deck ... haha, I can create a whole storyline.

But then I wonder what people think of me! One time I had to stop by with my boyfriend, and we picked up stuff for his mom. We had 2 gallons of milk, oatmeal, and 2 baby blankets. As we stood there on the line, we were talking about how others probably thought we were buying supplies for our family! Haha.

We just got the Mickey chicken nuggets too!
