Costco won't deliver my bottled water!!!

Wow! they do have a minimum order! Didn't know that...
It is $40. Doesn't say that on their website!
I had to call and ask. They said $40 minimum.

It is posted on their website:

Q. Is there a minimum order amount?
A. Yes, $40 on food/drink items.

Q. Is there a delivery charge?
A. Yes, but it's only $12.00! No charge on orders over $200, however.

Bear in mind that Gardengrocer has sunscreen, batteries, snacks, so it isn't hard to get to $40 dollars.

It is easy to get to $40. We ordered 2 cases of water, Lysol spray, and some breakfast foods so we can eat in our room and save our DDP credits for lunch and dinner.

I always bring an extra suitcase with water and snacks. We fly southwest so there is never an extra bag charge between the three of us. Something to consider.

I hope you line/protect that water in your extra suitcase. All you would need to happen is to have your bag get crushed and everyone's suitcase underneath yours gets wet.

Do they still make these? I thought they had been discontinued, and I would *love* to have some!

Brita water bottles were discountinued a number of years ago. I have seen some - along with filters - on eBay on occasion

It isn't to stop people who are having water delivered to Disney. Its to stop people who are ordering big screen TVs. Its a blanket policy designed to stop a very common scam - steal a credit card, and you can't have the stuff shipped to your house, so you rent a hotel room - with a stolen id. Now you can take receipt of your stolen goods and disappear without a trace.

It shocks me that Costco was permitting this before.

I would think that if they could monitor which orders were being shipped where, they could also see that my $7.50 bottled water order was not a big screen tv and that the delivery address was to a disney resort and not a motel 6 on i-70.

I actually spoke to the supervisor at Costco and asked her if she realized how much money they would lose with this policy just from the "online community" that I belong to (meaning the Dis, but I didn't want to name drop) and her reply was, "Well I doubt if it is a significant amount, compared to our day to day sales numbers."

After hearing this I was in shock  <------this was the look on my face.

I politely informed her that I would let my fellow online community members know that Costco was not interested in their business and she said, "sounds great, thanks" and hung up! :scared1:

I just thought you should all know how Costco thinks about it's customers.

I carry it on ;)

But if I didn't, I see no need to line a suitcase. It's not often they actually get crushed flat! At least none I've ever owned! A duffle on the other hand...

I had my order cancelled-I shot off an email and their response was 'We don't ship to hotels' I have had water delivered several times with no problem--it's water not big ticket items--I sent off a second email (I'm in that kind of mood today) asking when this policy started and why some people are still receiveing their water while others are being cancelled. Funny that in this economy this company would treat customers (repeat ones at that) this way.:confused3

:confused3 How do you carry bottled water onto a plane? 2 oz of water won't last very long, lol. I can't imagine buying water once thru security as airport bottled water costs more than Disney World's when you add the sales tax.

I appreciate this reminder. My suitcase was the recipient of a broken bottle of rum (I think that's what it was based on the color/smell) that some idiot tried to smuggle onto our cruise ship. It ruined my suitcase fabric and several pieces of our formal wear that was inside the suitcase. From now on I put ALL of our clothes in large ziplocks to protect our belongings from the traveling idiots.

I'm not happy to see this, since this was my plan.

My husband says he will walk to the Hess station from DD. Is this really possible or should I order from GG?

I guess we are lucky, my college roommate lives in Orlando and we email him a list of what we want. When we arrive at Disney he brings it over and we are set, water, Gator-aid/Power aid, frozen pizza and other goodies.

I'm making my list now. :rotfl:

Hi,
I have ordered water from Costco for all of our trips. I ordered 6 cases of water today and I'll check to see if it is cancelled tomorrow.
Are you a Costco member? I have a Costco Executive membership and I will definitely give them a piece of my mind if they cancel my order.
Is there someone else besides gardengrocer that will deliver, water, wine, beer etc?

I carry it on ;)

How do you carry it on with the liquid restrictions on carry-ons?? They won't even let you carry a single bottle of water therough the security checkpoint at the airport. Do you buy the water at the airport after security?

Wouldn't that defeat the budget part of the plan? Water in the airport is just as expensive as at Disney.

captainj - will you let us know if it works? I was planning on doing this for my wedding in December since we are going to be there for 2 weeks so it stinks to learn that they stopped doing this. Now I need a back up plan. :headache:

I am very unhappy to report that changing the address to Pop Century (instead of Pop Century Resort) did not work either. My order is canceled. This time, no e-mail to notify me, I found out by checking my order status at Costco. For anyone who has ordered and is planning on the water being there, you might want to take a look at your order status if you have not received "the" e-mail.

DH and I are bringing a couple of empty bottles and he will order bottled water at CS as needed (we refill our bottles w/cups of "clean" water from cs anyway). If it was just me, I wouldn't even worry about it but DH and one of my DS get dehydrated very easily so we keep a bottle w/us at all times so they can sip in lines and stay well hydrated.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but I'm not going to stress about it anymore. This time next week I will be walking right down the middle of Main Street USA!!! :woohoo:
