Costco Trial Membership?

Anyone know if you can get a trial membership anywhere? I need to buy just one item there. Costco is too far for me to use on a regular basis. Thoughts?

Our Costco won't give out a day pass or trial membership. I go with my friend who is a member and check out with her member card. They even let me use my credit card to pay. I brought cash just in case.

The official policy at Costco is that member's guests can only use cash or debit to pay. The cashier who let you use your credit card made a mistake.

I'm pretty sure that Costco lets you use American Express.
