Family is me (47-year-old) and my parents (both 75), preparing for our first cruise. My folks REALLY want to visit Mayan ruins on our Costa Maya port stop. I'm researching our options and they all seem to involve a lot of walking and stairs. They're both fine with walking, and the stairs will be doable. (We've also started a family walking plan to help build up endurance and whatnot.) My mom, though, uses a rollator (a walker on wheels with a built-in seat)...mostly for stability and the option to have a seat instead of standing still in one place (bad knee).
We're coming up on our day to book shore excursions so I'm looking for some advice from anyone who has visited the Mayan ruins in Costa Maya. Specifically, we're considering the Chacchoben Ruins and All Inclusive at Uchbenkah Lagoon excursion. Has anyone done this? Can you give me an idea of how fast paced the walking is? Would a rollator be allowed on the excursion?
Would appreciate any advice you might have so I can help my folks have an amazing time celebrating their 55th wedding anniversary!
