WE just returned from a 4 night DCL Wonder, had a great time. Looking to go on a seven night in 05. Trying to find the price difference from a Inside stateroom to a Verandah? We saw a verandah as we left the ship, looks nice, Also liked the split Bathroom. Anyone know when the rates for 05 will be out??? THANKS............

I can tell you, it will depend on cruises. We are booked on the 10/30/04 Magic, and at first booked a category 10 inside cabin. We had a category 6 on our 4 day, so decided to take the plunge and spend the extra $$$. The price difference for 2 adults and 2 children was $1200.

Cant answer all the questions but I do want to say, go for the veranda! Its worth every penny, I dont go without one, if you need to save a bit of money go for the navigators verhanda

I agree with eek40. We had a veranda on the 7 day Western and booked it again for our Wonder trip. Besides the beautiful view, it gave us a place to dry our bathing suits! If you can afford it, go for it!

The price difference varies by cruise date and by what categories you're comparing. You can play "what if" by picking "reservations" at the the official DCL site:

http://disneycruise.disney.go.com/

You get instant, interactive price quotes. Don't worry. You don't have to put in your name or a credit card, so there's no risk. (It's also a good way to see how prices vary week by week.) Although the prices aren't out for 2005, you can get a good idea by checking similar weeks in 2004.

There's no question that a verandah is a nice thing to have. For one thing, it's nice just being able to open the glass door to bring in outside air. But the real question is how much more are you willing to pay for a verandah.

We had a private verandah (cat. 6) last time, but we aren't bothering with one next time. Instead we're getting connecting SPR staterooms for the 4 of us. We'll have twice as much interior space, including twice as much storage and bathroom capacity. We're still spending less than for a cat. 6. And we'll have easy access to the wonderful blue chairs on the deck 4 promenade.

But that's just our preference. There are others on this board who would not dream of sailing without a private verandah.

We had a veranda this last trip in June only because we were one of the fortunate / lucky ones that DCL upgraded. If you added up the entire time we spent on the veranda for a 7-day cruise, I would speculate that it was less than 10 hours total. Unless you really like to spend time there, it would not be worth it to me.

In case you didn't know, on decks 7 and 8 are public verandas overlooking aft, that were EMPTY each time I visited. There are deck chairs on the 7th, but none on he 8th. They lock the doors to these sometime around 10:30 P.M., but I can not recall the exact time.

We spend a lot of time on the verandah - breakfast in the AM, often room service for a meal ---- it was also wonderful when we had cold in December and didn't want to be around people - especially that sunset dinner we had - very romantic, even with the sniffles and sneezes!

Good morning Rae.

According to "informed sources" (ie: peeping cruisers), you guys rivaled the eating scene from the movie Tom Jones...

The price difference is quite considerable, but worth it to us. We booked the 7-day Eastern for next May and we booked 2 inside staterooms (cat 11) for our daughters and MIL. While on board we were able to get them for $799 a person. The cat 6 room with verandah that my husband and I have would have cost us $1,349 per person if we hadn't used our DVC points for that cabin. We had a verandah on our cruise this past May and really enjoyed it.

This Nov our verandah is our "compensation" for last Nov's cruise.

Hi imgoingtodisney.

This Nov our verandah is our "compensation" for last Nov's cruise.

And this November your cruise is OUR "compensation" for last November's cruise...

JUST JOKING, Barb! It was TOO obvious and I simply couldn't resist...

I am cruising this month (finally made it through the 18 month wait). July is SO expensive that the cost difference for my family of four was about $600 for a four day as I recall...but in relation to the entire cost of the cruise - it was very low. Seemed to me that if I was going to shell out thousands for four days, the small increase was well worth it. On the other hand, my room in September was under $2k - then the extra cost might be more of a factor. (Course I had decide to be a teacher and have an academic schedule...no vacations during classes!).
