I love reading these boards and gathering information. Our family is planning a vacation in june or july. Does anyone know where I can find a price list for groceries inside the dvc resorts. I am trying to do a cost comparison between renting a car and doing grocery shopping, using Tiffanny Towne Car service and doing grocery shopping, or buying groceries from inside DVC. This will be our first trip back to our home resort. I would be gratefull for any suggestions on car rentals or services that would make our trip easier and enjoyable. I'm trying to be wise with our spending due to some unexpected medical bills that have come our way. Thanks again for any help.

The lists for the DVC Delivery Plan is on the member website under "planning your getaway".

One option you may want to look at - rent a car at the airport on your arrival day from National or Alamo and return it to the Dolphin or the car care center before the 24 hours is up, then it would be available for grocery shopping. Then do a one way back to the airport with either Tiffany or Mears, or rent a car again. I'm not sure if some of the other rental companies have onsite dropoffs. I think Dollar has one at one of the Downtown Disney Hotels. You should be able to do a one day rental for under $50 (check mousesavers for discounts).

Another option, probably cheaper than a one-way rental, would be to just take a cab to the store and back. The Winn Dixie is maybe a 15 minute trip from the farthest DVC resort and shouldn't be much. You could have the cab wait or just call another when you're ready to go back.

Thanks for the replies. I went to the dvc website, and took a look at the grocery list. All I could see was a blank list for making out your grocery list. I may be doing something wrong. I was curious about their prices. We will probably rent a car or use Tiffany Townecar or Yourride. I still could use any furhter suggestions. Thanks again for your input.

Do you have Adobe Acrobat reader? You need that to pull up the lists. I just checked all 4 WDW resorts and prices are listed. The items are overpriced plus there is a $5 delivery charge. $5.85 for a 6 pack of Coke! You could shop at the resort store, but the thing that bugs me is they never seem to have prices on the items, you have to wait until you check out to find out.

We bought several items at the OKW store and were pleasantly surprised. Yes, things were generally a bit more than at a regular store but not as much as most convenience stores. Expensive? yeah...but not a real ripoff, either.

I feel similar to Doctor P about buying groceries on site. I figure I am on vacation. For what I pay at OKW for juice, milk & a package of little cereals, I figure I couldn't eat elsewhere for that price. This is not to say that I haven't frequently brought groceries with us from either home or a local grocery store, but the situation is different because we almost always have a car with us.

We've done both - bought at the resort and made a grocery stop. However, that was before when I could pack food items, like cereal, in my luggage. We'll be there Jan 1 with a rental car and would like to go to the new Winn-Dixie, can anyone give me an address or directions from OKW?

Thanks!

Directions

Take a right when leaving OKW.
When you get to the stop sign, take a LEFT (trust me).
When you get to the next stop sign, take a right.
When you get to SR 535, turn left...WD will be a short distance on the right.

Well, it depends. You didn't define how much of a grocery stop you'd be planning.

If you're going to do actual full meals, you definitely need a grocery stop of some kind. Most, if not all of the towncar services do stops at the grocer of your choice, and there's Winn Dixie, Publix, etc..

If you just need munchie supplies, there is a convenient place to stopover at right on the way to Disney, if you leave via the south airport exit. Just take 417 West to the International drive exit, go straight off the exit, follow it to just short of the intersection(it's the second one) labeled on the map(just including this for your info) for a good supply of minor stuff including milk and cereals and small micro meals and such at an Eckerd, or, if you are really in a hurry there's a 7-11.

Here's an area map: (note- I did this off the top of my head, please feel free to point out inaccuracies)

Wow! Thanks for all the info. Ya'll are great. I was impressed with drawing a map from off the top of your head. Also, I will try to go back and look where I made my mistake looking at the dvc grocery list. I would prefer to get my groceries at a grocery store, but if we ran out of something I would like to be prepared for the cost. Thanks once again for all the suggestions and for taking the time to answer my questions.

Thanks for all the great info. We will be at BWV the end of January and I was wondering about the same thing.

You're Welcome!

The roads themselves are from a program called DeLorme Street Atlas - a program I could not do without for making roadmaps. Much better than any online mapping pages. All the labels are mine.

Follow the same directions to get to Boardwalk, once inside property, there's signs for everywhere.

This a much better way to get to WDW than the I-4 route, but you'll need (2) $1 tolls.

Someone was asking in DVC Chat - if you follow 535 off the bottom of my map, there is also a Super Wal-Mart. It's the furthest away of the the three, about 15 minutes or so away. Be prepared it's usually mobbed.

535 off the top of my map goes past the street entrance to Downtown Disney/Crossroads Plaza.

Winn Dixie is the other side of Downtown Disney, Publix is about where my pointer ends right off of Internatonal Dr.
