I know this info must be somewhere but I can't find it. What charges are there when you use points for a reservation? Do you get a bill at the end of your stay, just like a non-member at a resort?:confused3 Thanks for any help

If you add a credit card to your room key and use that for purchases around the parks, you'll get a statement showing those charges.

Unless you charge to your room account, there will be no bill.

You can choose to add extra housekeeping services, those would be charged to your room and billed when you leave.

Many of the options outside of DVC resorts have a $95 fee when you make the reservation.

Your room is paid for with your points so there isn't a bill for that.

You will still pay for your transportation to WDW, dues, tickets, food, and extras. We average about $2000 per visit not including our point purchase price and dues.

:earsboy: Bill

One of the nicest things about timeshare ownership is that there are no more fees when you check out. As stated above, unless you pay for something with your Key, or order extra services, the bill will be for $0.

As long as you are using your DVC points for a reservation and are not paying cash for a room, then:

If you stay at Aulani there will be charge for the Transient Accommodations Tax. The amount of the tax is based on the number of points used in the reservation. There are threads about the amount of the tax and the DVC News has the information on their website for the Aulani resort.

But none of the other DVC resorts have any other charges like that.

So if you never charge anything to your KTTW card it would show a zero balance on checkout at 10 of the 11 DVC resorts (Aulani is the exception).

If you use your DVC points to stay at an hotel in the Disney Collection, like the Disneyland Hotel or the Polynesian Resort, I would expect that you would have to pay a hotel tax. Because those hotels are subject to the state's/county's hotel taxes. Whereas a timeshare is exempt from the hotel taxes.

Also if you are paying for Disney Dining Plan you will be expected to pay for that in advance.

I don't remember paying any taxes when we stayed at DLH or GC Hotel on points but that was a few years ago so maybe it has changed or my memory is just bad.

We just completed a stay at the Disneyland Hotel on points last month, and there are no additional taxes charged for reservations on points.:goodvibes

One DVC resort, Aulani, has an occupancy tax (in Hawaii they tax everything) that you must pay.
