Can someone please confirm for me the cost of adding a day to a ticket. We currently have 5 day MYW with park hopper option tickets. Am I correct in thinking that it will be only $10 +tax per ticket to add a day?

It will usually only be only $10 +tax ($10.65) per ticket to add a day.

(When and from whom did you BUY your current tickets?)

Yeah, the more days you stay, it gets much more economical per day. I can't remember where the cutoff is, but I think any additional days after the first four are $10 per day +tax. This is great for long stays, but sucks for short stays.

Unfortunately, Universal and Sea World do something similar. I want to go to Universal for a day one of these trips but the cost is crazy for one day IMO.

Yes, once they have you there, Disney wants to encourage you to continue to visit the parks, extend your hotel stay, and above all else spend more money and food and trinkets.

This is my same predicament. I've been wanting to go to Universal for 1 day during a trip but I just can't justify the few hundred dollars it will cost for just one day.

Yeah, we ponied up for Sea World a few years ago and it was awesome, but it adds up. Was about $460 with taxi and food back in 2012 for our family of 5. Universal is even more costly, roughly $600 including taxi and food for one day for a single park! Crazy. We decided to spend the money on the water park option this year and try those instead as something new. We can do those as many times as we want for much less.

Tickets came from WDW as part of our package. We paid for a 4 day ticket and got the 5th day "free". Will this cause a problem in adding a day?

Thanks everyone for confirming what I apparently already knew.

No, but use them first to enter the park then add the day.

What you will have is actually a regular 5-day ticket (there are no special tickets involved in these "X-day Free" offers.

As was said (and the reason for my question about where you got the tickets,) be sure to USE these tickets at least one time to enter a theme park BEFORE you do the upgrade.
The reason to do so is just an "internal Disney bookkeeping thing."
So, if you do use the tickets first, your cost to add a day will be $10.65 per ticket.

Got it. Thanks everyone for all the information. We will only be adding a day if we forgo our resort day. Just wanted clarification in case we take this route.

Glad I saw this...we want to add a day, also. We have 4 day standard one pk per day tickets. Would that be the same for us, as well? We have ours through a travel agent through WDW group sales. I just want to add the day now so I can book our fast passes

Are your tickets bought as stand-alone tickets or are they included in a package with your resort room?

Unless you have tickets purchased as part of a WDW resort package, you cannot add anything to the tickets
until you are at WDW, in-person.

I'm so confused by this, we brought 2 day tickets in 2013 as part of the free dining package, whoever we didn't use them due to already having 14 day tickets.
We want to go back next yr for a wk, can we add days to these tickets once there? Or do I have to purchase new tickets over again?

1. can we add days to these tickets once there?

2. Or do I have to purchase new tickets over again?

1. Sure.
2. Nope.

And, I've reprinted my statement below:

"Unless you have tickets purchased as part of a WDW resort package,
you cannot add anything to the tickets
until you are at WDW, in-person."

All I said was that you need to be at WDW to add days to tickets.
You said you will be at WDW when you want to add days to your tickets.
Sounds like all is well.

If you bought before the increase and add now, it will cost more. I thought it would be an extra $40 for our family of four but it was actually $89. Just something to keep in mine. New tix will be at the new price.

That's not necessarily true. (Can be true, doesn't have to be true.)

It all depends on what tickets you have now, what kind of upgrading is desired, and from where the tickets were originally purchased.

Yes, they were bought as a package through WDW

If you mean they are part of a resort package for a new trip that is coming up, then call and add the days to the tickets now.

If you mean that these are older tickets from a previous trip (but never used,)
you must wait until you are at WDW before you can upgrade them.

Here's our situation.....

We have 8 day non - expiring PH tix bought thru undercover tourist a couple of years ago that have never been used (no idea why we didn't get 10 day then....but whatever)....

We also have 4 days left on a 10 day PH non - expire ticket -- that we've obviously used 6 days on.

Whenever we go back...

1. Can we add 2 days to the never used 8 day tix? Do we use them once and then try to add 2 days to it or can we finish off the 4 day and just add the 2 days to the 8 day ticket? Does it matter that they came from UT and not Disney?
2. On the tix w/4 days -- since they were 10 days originally, we can't do anything with them...correct?

Hate that they ended the non-expiring tix -- so I'd at least like to turn the 8 day into a 10 day if possible.

1a. Maybe. (It's the "non-expiring" that is the iffy point.)
1b. If they will LET YOU upgrade the NE ticket, that would work.
1c. If they will LET YOU upgrade the NE ticket, you'd want to do 1b above.
1d. No.
2. Correct.
