What is the size and cost of bottled water onboard? I am trying to decide if we should pre-buy the water package or not, since we are not staying concierge.

Why not just bring along your personal refillable water bottles and fill them with the water onboard? It's processed the same as most bottled waters - reverse osmosis and filtered.

You can order bottled water ahead of time for your room on the onboard gifts site. 24 pack $55 12 $27.50 6 $13.75 they are 16 oz bottles you will also have to pay 18 % service charge . We always bring on 6 bottles of water we buy the sports ones that are a bit bigger each on a 7 night cruise 2 adults, and we also bring refillable cups we refill if need be with water from the drink stations. We always make sure to leave 2-3 bottles four our Castaway day.

I second bringing your own water bottle and fill it at the drink station. You can always fill there cups with water too.

I need water to take my meds at bedtime so it’s nice just to have my water bottle in the room.

It's actually "canned" Dasani unless you go to one of the bars and then you can usually get EVIAN, higher priced, but in a litre bottle. As was mentioned the water at the drink stations is just as good as the cans.

Water at the drink stations is pushed through miles and miles of plumbing and also tastes flat in your mouth after heavy treatment. Dasani isn't much better. EVIAN is in a different league, but you can bring a case or two with you on board. Just stop at a grocery store on your way to the port.

Evian and Dasani are flavored waters. Flavored with minerals. Water on a modern cruise ship is probably the purist water you will ever drink. But so many folks are used to the flavored waters like Evian and Dasani, that they think pure water tastes funny.

Dasaini and Evian are pushed through miles and miles of plumbing too at the bottling plant.

Don't forget to add 18% gratuity to those prices. So, yes we paid over $65 for a case of water on our WBPC cruise in March.
I wasn't really paying attention and I thought they accidentally charged us for 2. Never again.
For our cruise last week, we intentionally chose a Miami hotel with a short walk to a Publix, Marriott Biscayne Bay. On sale, we spent $5 for 2 6-packs. Dh also tried the water at the drink station and said it tastes similar to bottled water.
Next time, we'll bring refillable insulated bottles.

As is Evian and Dasani at the bottling plant.

As is Dasani and Evian at the bottling plant. People have just gotten used to flavored waters like Dasani and Evian. They add minerals to give them the taste. Ship water is pure and people aren't used to drinking pure water.

Most of this is incorrect.

Bottled water like Evian is never treated like that on board. It is sourced from a glacial aquifer and only filtered to remove impurities. Nothing added, no enhancements. The taste you get is due to naturally occurring minerals.

The water on board, on the contrary, is heavily treated. It has to be constantly chlorinated to cleanse from the bacteria and germs that would grow in storage and transport. And no water anywhere is pure - unless you want buy the distilled water sold in pharmacies. THAT is pure, but I would love to watch you finish more than half a glass of it at a time.

They also have water bottle refill stations on deck 4 on several if not all the ships. I do highly recommend a refillable water bottle regardless just so you have the option.

Personally we did buy a water bottle package onboard our last cruise that they were offering the first day because it came with a cooler bag we liked and we thought it would be nice to have off the ship. I really do like the cooler bag but I didn’t like the metal Dasani cans of water, I don’t think I’d order them again.

Of course if they offer me another cool Disney cooler bag with a new design who knows what I’ll do 😂.

Sorry, you are mistaken, according to Evian's website it is glacial water with the following added.
  • Bicarbonates 360.
  • Sulfates 15.
  • Silica 14.
  • Chlorides 10

Mind the difference between the word "added" and the phrase "naturally occurring". Your copied/pasted specs are Evian's naturally occurring composition.

They obviously don't just go down to the river and fill the bottles up. They have to go through a filtration process at the plant. Otherwise you would be seeing a bunch of sediment and organisms in the water. I personally don't like Evian. It is way too heavy on the bicarbonate and has a weird mouth feel and taste because of it. Any company that claims that they don't do anything to the water is suspect.

We love Evian and its taste. There is a reason why it commands a premium everywhere in the world and is served as a top water brand.

And read that link more carefully. There is no claim that they don't remove impurities. The discussion is about adding to what occurs naturally.

They actually do claim it on their website. They say that it is filtered "by nature" and there is no mention of any filtration process at the plant. They seem a bit sketchy about the whole thing, who knows what they are really doing. In no way would nature be consistent in it's mineral amounts. And since they put what is in the water and the percentages, it makes sense that they add/take away things as needed to keep the product consistent. You can't honestly believe that it comes from nature the exact same way every time.
