Cost of 1/2 pint of School Milk

If you buy the school lunch for $1.95, the milk is included. My DS hasn't bought milk a la carte, but I believe it's .35 for white milk and .40 for chocolate milk.

I'm not sure of the prices for middle school because my older DS has never bought lunch there...and he's half way through 7th grade! He packs every single day.

$2.00 for lunch (with milk), $.50 for additional milk! White, chocolate, and sometimes strawberry!

.90 cents for just the milk in our part of NJ

Yikes that high. I am not sure how much an extra one is on our school but found on the high schools website its $.40. Ours might be a little less since there is a price difference in lunch.

My kids get free lunch and don't buy an extra milk so I never paid attention.

Elementary lunch is 2.35 and high school is $2.85.

For milk they have all options, whole, 2%, skim, chocolate and strawberry.

WOW, thanks for all the feedback I think I need to move to indy j/k. Our lunch cost $4 with no milk, I don't know how they get away with it.(the not including milk even though the menu states milk is required to meet guidelines). We just get 1% and chocolate, I wish we had the strawberry or cookies n cream YUMMY!!

Check before you move because we live just north of Indy and pay .40 for extra milk and $1.95 for the plate lunch. Its still a bargain compared to what you pay!

Just wondering how long your lunch time is? Around here I know that lunch isn't nearly long enough that the milk isn't sitting out nearly long enough for the minimal drop in temperature to affect it.

Our lunch period goes from 11am (when the first class comes in) until 12:40pm (when the last class comes in). Even though when we kept the extras on ice last year some would still be left at the end of the day on some days. Our health dept stipulates that the ice MUST be kept completely covered under ice at all times if it is not in the milk cooler. Of course when you have 600 eating and several of those moving the milk around and throwing it in the pan on top of the ice , it will never be able to stay under the ice. Also you do not know how long the milk sat at the original child's tray away from any cooler or ice before it is given away or put on a table.

Anyway...since we could never be able to keep the extras under ice at all times it was just safer to have them throw it away. The other poster is right about that the temp can change very quickly in a matter of minutes. Also since we are in south GA, the temps here are in the 90's and 100's several months of the school year. All I know is that I would never drink a carton of milk that was just sitting on a table!!

Our milk costs $ .65 for white or chocolate, and lunch is $2.50 and includes milk.

What part of NJ are you from? We are also in NJ and the elementary school lunch is $2.15 and includes a milk (white, chocolate and strawberry). Milk by itself is .45 (same choices). The middle school where I work (different town - urban district) is also .45 for milk a la carte. I made the mistake of buying it for myself yesterday and it was SOUR :crazy2: ! Of course, this is the same school cafeteria that served spaghetti with SALSA because they ran out of marinara...then, when the salsa ran out they served the spaghetti with BROWN GRAVY! :scared1: Real great since they participate in the free/reduced lunch program! Our tax dollars at work! :headache:
