cosplay and Disney inspired outfits for adults

Here is one of me earlier in our trip. First day at MK and first day ever at Disney for me!

Love the dresses! I love polka dots too! They're so much fun :hyper:

I picked up a cute little blue sun dress that will be perfect for Belle and if I can find some yellow leggings, snow white too. I also found a blue and white striped shirt and a yellow top for my smee and Gus Gus inspired days. I've put the stuff I've picked up away, so not only will I have the fun of disney bounding while at WDW, I get to do it with new outfits! LOL

I have tickets to go see Maleficent on Sunday, so planning a Maleficent Disney bound there too.

Sorry, I don't get it and think I'm missing something here.

Is there any more to it than simply wearing the same colors as a particular character? Are people supposed to recognize what the person "dressing up" is trying to do, or is it for the sole amusement of that person? I see the connection between wearing a red and white polka dotted dress and having your picture taken with Minnie, but feel lost with respect to everything else.

Not sure how to explain it - I guess it's either fun for you or it isn't. :confused3

For me, I love knowing that I'm bounding as a character - even at work - and no one knows it. It just helps me carry Disney magic around with me on a particular day. At the parks I think it will be even more fun and I'm looking forward to seeing other bounders. Bounders might recognize each other, maybe not though. It's probably fun if someone realizes it (I hear that the "real" characters at the parks almost always get it) but not necessary in my opinion.

In short (sorry that was long) it's fun for me b/c it makes me smile and it's Disney. Sort of a combination of planning/coordinating/Disney-ing/pretending.

Hope that helps! :)

It's just dressing in a particular palette so as to evoke the image of a particular character. It's not supposed to be "costumey" and it's not something you'd expect to be recognized for outside of the parks. As PP said, it's either fun for you or it isn't.

It's also because adults are obviously not allowed to try to mimic or match characters too closely like kids are allowed to do. I've never bounded, and doubt I do, but it's fun to know about because it's adds a new dimension to people watching at Disney.

You sound like my daughter. She stumbled into the Disney Bounding Tumblr feed while she was in college and started building some of her own outfits for both Disney and characters from other fandoms (mostly Marvel) just for her own enjoyment. She wore a couple of her outfits to the Parks last week and was just thrilled with how some of the princesses lit up when they saw her. It's just for her and just for fun ... and not nearly as serious as her Cosplay outfits. THOSE she sells ... so serious (ish) business.

Just got my photo pass plus CD and can finally share pictures of my Disney Bound outfits I wore to the park.

Close up picture of me Disney bounding as Elsa.

Picture of my Silver Mist outfit and a Magic shot with wings at Epcot. I had blue strands of hair but you really can not see it.

I talked my husband into going back in three years. This should give me plenty of time to plan my next round of outfits. Hopefully Avatar will be at Animal Kingdom when we go and I can work on something for it. This has been sooooo much fun! I plan on wearing my outfits at home since I loved how they came out.

Sat, June 7th - Pocahontas (as mentioned above) at AK
Sunday, EPCOT - Elsa shirt (see prior post) with turquoise shorts. Plan to get my pic in front of the norway church. :)
Monday - Typhoon Lagoon so just swimsuit there of course but when we go to HDDR I have a few options including Merida (bow/arrow necklace with dark green shirt) and Alice (turquoise shirt with Alice and the rabbit necklace)
Tues - DHS, Disneybounding as Princess Leia! Woot! White shirt and shorts, silver belt, hair in tiny little bun things or ponytails
Weds - MK - we are actually wearing matching tie-dye mickey shirts that we made that day but we'll take a break and come back later that day and I might wear one of my optional bounding outfits that evening
Thurs - last day at Epcot - blue sundress, white bow, rose earrings, necklace with a book on it - Village Belle. I hope to get a pic with her in France - wish me luck!

Well said!

I'm 51 and I hate wearing tee shirts. I have found some girly tees which are okay but bounding is much more my style. I can wear regular clothes in my favorite characters colors instead of wearing an unflattering tee shirt.
I have two outfits planned and maybe a third. They are VERY simple, nothing like the pictures shown but I think some people may get it.

I was an unintentional bounder last week. One of the Disney photographers called me Cheshire Cat. I had on dark pink shorts and a pink shirt with purple stripes. I guess he is used to seeing people dress in character colors.

I am so getting excited about disbounding. My dd age 8'too.
Our trip is in sept and she will come home and ask to change into her Daisey outfit. White tennis skirt, lavender top and yellow socks. Told her we will put lavender bows in her hair. Ds will wear a navy top white shorts, and yellow socks. Do,they sell mickey ears as donald and daisey. Would be too cute.

Myself i have a SW outfit. Yellow skirt, navy tank and red cardigan. Will look for apple necklace and wear a red head band.

Still looking for pale blue sommer dress, and want teal capris with purple top and sea shell accessories.

I've never DisneyBounded but I recently cosplayed as Elsa for a convention and will be wearing the same outfit for the MNSSHP in Sept.

cool anna and elsa costumes!

Only one more day of work after today and then I get to hop on the plane as Pocahontas! :) :woohoo:

We had a blast at the 24 hour party. We traditionally wear matching shirts, and have bounded during the marathons. We picked up outfits at the Goodwills on the drive to Florida. DH really did well! I was a Dwarf for the new mine train (Can't tell, but the belt has Gems all around the back) and DH who looks enough like Smee to begin with was ADORABLE! Got so many comments from guests and CM's!

The magic bands were done up as well, Sparkly gems on mine with an apple for the evil queen, and Smee stripes on DH's with an anchor.
