cosplay and Disney inspired outfits for adults

For fellow disneybounders.....
I've found etsy.com to be a great resource for specifically themed accessories at good prices. Mind you, I'm NOT talking about heirloom quality here, mostly homemade stuff but if you are wearing for one day on your vacation do you really need it to be super high quality?
I've bought a bow and arrow pewter necklace on a leather string for Merida outfit, a crow pendant for Maleficient, and Eifel Tower earrings for my France Pavillion outfit.

Oooooo.....I am going to be all over that. :cutie:

Etsy really is a FANTASTIC resource for disneybounding accessories!! They've got all sorts of stuff you wouldn't find otherwise. I found a little frying pan for rapunzel there!

As for dresses in the parks, I used to cheerlead, so it's not a surprise that I wear spandex shorts under ALL my skirts & shorts, always. It really helps in the parks to prevent with chafing, and of course, the dreaded wardrobe malfunction, especially when getting in & out of space mtn is concerned.

Well - I guess there are detailed ways to go and less detailed ways. :)

The perspective I'm taking is to sort of match colors the best I can and see if I can find related accessories (i.e. - I've slowly started to hunt for cheap fish earrings on the day I wear a bright blue tshirt with yellow sleeves (or ribbons) and am "Dory"). So if it "feels" like Silver Mist to you then I think you're in! The wings are a good accessory and I think the idea of putting them on a backpack is great!

I wouldn't want to do TOO MUCH at the parks, to be honest, just so I don't accidentally cross a line.

Check out this tumblr for some real life pics of people who are bounding. You wouldn't necessarily know for sure on these, but I also feel like the spirit of the bounding is that you know and if you're at the parks, there's a good chance that plenty of other people will also know! http://disneyboundgoeslive.tumblr.com/

The backpack is really cute!!! Wish I could send a pic. It is not over the top at all. The wings are very small and actually part of the backpack. They are a fake leather slightly smooth vinyl looking. The color of the outfit is the thing I am just not sure of. I looked at it again and realized it is not a one shoulder top like a though but strapless. I thought about making my own one shoulder strap with material and find flower sequin patches to sew onto the strap. What flower is Silver mist?
Thanks for the link. I have since been doing some reasearch on the subject and looking at images.
Thank you so much for all your support!

I forgot to mention that the day I do the Silver Mist thing will be our Epcot day during the Flower and Garden show. I also plan on getting a magic shot photo done. Iwould like to do the faries wings shot and the buterfly shot. I am getting really excited!!!

stay tuned....my goal is to make my Elsa coronation tshirt this weekend - I'll post a pic if I can do it!

My DD13 (will be 14 for our Sept trip) has several dresses that she will be wearing when we "disneybound" at the parks. A black one for Maleficient, a hunter green one for Merida, a blue skirt for "Kiss the Girl Ariel", and we are looking for a maroon dress for her "Tower of Terror" outfit. We both found cool animal print dresses for our "Animal Kingdom" themed disneybounding. The dresses are all on the short side, with short sleeves, so OK for Sept weather in FL. We plan on wearing black stretchy cotton shorts under the dresses so as not to have to worry climbing in and out of rides.
My DD (dark blonde) really wants to have temporary red dye for her Ariel/Merida days. I'm hesitant and haven't given my full approval on this yet. Wondering if there are there any that are easy to apply (spray on) and wash out well? I think a wig would be out of the question bc it's really very hot in Sept.

I thought the same thing. With all the colors I see in teens hair these days I would have to think there is a spray on. We are huge Halloween fans and have used the spray hair spray paint before. I do know they have red and blue since that is my children's school colors. We used the spray on the boys hair for football homecoming parade. It washes right out. you can tell it is sprayed on though so it will not cover the entire hair throughly like hair dye does. But you may want to consider it. Since you are going in September which is when they start getting their halloween stock out you should have no problems finding it. Otherwise try eBay or Amazon.

I agree. etsy is assume!!! I even found a women on their that makes the costumes identical to the ones the cast members wear. They are very pricey and oviously can not be wore in the park. They also have assume looking character wigs but again as others have suggested should not be worn in the park. The great thing about etsy is you could find some one to make what ever you want for yor outfit. I could not agree more it does seem the accesories really make the outfit and symbolize you character. It is ao exciting to find people excited about the same thing. I am hoping this thread will help others like us post their ideas and pics in turn helping others.

I wish I knew how to post pix on disboards. I've done it on other internet forums, but they used a different format. I will try to educate myself on how to do this and take pix when our outfits are complete.
Darn this thread has made me want to go disbound shopping when I really SHOULD be going grocery shopping (groan) today!! :rotfl:

I have had the same problem. I have passed organic chemistry with an A but I can not figure out how to post a pic. I do know you have to first upload your pics through a site like photobucket. I finally asked my question in the tec threads and am currently waiting for an aswer. You may want to at least check those threads because the information may help you. They even have a thread where you can do a test run of posting you photo to make sure it works before posting on the thread you are wanting the information on. Just realize you are not alone. It appears may have the same problem.

That would be great!!! Looking forward to it!!! Have fun !!! I will post my outfits as well when I get the photo thing worked out.

Oh OK I have a photobucket account. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction!

I am going to attempt to post a pic of my Ariel outfit. Please tell me if you can see the pics.

If these images come out the above skirt is the one I may buy and wear only after the boys get done at Pirate League. We would take pics and then Iwould put the teal/green tenis skort back on.

ok so it appears I FINALLY figured out how to post picks so here are my ideas for Silver Mist. As I mentioned earlier I may try to sew a satin one shoulder strap to the top and possibly add flower sequin patches of some sort. I believe they call them appliques. The back pack I purchased is the white with blue wings but I wanted to show you what it looking like on and the only pick they have of that was the black with white wings. Also as mentioned before I plan on having magic shots taken at the Flower and Garden Show at Epcot. I would like to have the magic shot of fairy wings and the one holding buterflys.
ok enough ramling here are the picks:

I so want to Disneybound, but I am a little worried that I am too old to do it now.
I have a complete Mansion tightrope girl costume that I have worn at NSSHP, but somehow I don't feel too old to wear that at Disney. Riddle me that one!

Maybe it's the ordinariness of it? You know, dressing up in public when there is no reason to dress up? I would do the Mansion girl though if I did, in a very "Southern Sunday Brunch" style.

Oh, and wigs at Disney -- they are hell on wheels to wear! I have two professionally done ones, one for my Mansion dress and one for a Tonks costume. Both of them are hard to wear for an entire day at a theme park. And they are very well made, professional wigs. UGH. Between the rides and the eating and the walking - well, there is a reason that the characters take 30 to 1 hour breaks!

ok so I thought I would throw this out at everyone that is intrested in doing Elsa from frozen. If you are crafty this may be a good choice. I found these on eBay.

#1 search under the following: 60" w ice blue 2 way strech mesh with glitter spray.
It is appears to be a stretchy mesh material and is sold by the yard. Cost is $5.50 and $5.95 for S&H

If any one else come accross things for any disney character please post pics and information for everyone. Thanks!

The more research I do the more I am thinking I could double dip with this ice blue outfit I am getting for Silver Mist and also wear it for Elsa:idea:. I even have a FP+ for her. I found a blue one shoulder bra top that I could wear under the strapless. Then I can iron on flower appliques on the shoulder strap only. For Elsa I fond a long sleve mesh top that I could wear under the stapless. On the mesh top I could iron on Snowflake appilque like the ones in the picture or use a liquid material glue. To top off the outfit I can add a snowflake necklass and snowflake hair jewery and have a dual purpose Disney bound outfit.

Love your pix and ideas!!! IMO the fun of disneybounding is using your own creativity to put outfits together! I do this with decorating my home too. I find a theme/look that I like and then make it happen "on the cheap" and no one is the wiser!

For example the "Animal Kingdom" dresses that DD and I each found were on clearance for $5 each! Some time next week we are going to Platos Closet and Goodwill to see what we can find. Fun!:dance3:

Guys - I've been away from this board for too long! (I won't make THAT mistake again...) - LOVE, love, love the ariel and silver mist/elsa pics you posted (I agree you can totally double dip for silver mist/elsa).

I just went to Etsy and bought 5 different charms from someone on there...I'm so excited! It was $50 (after shipping) - but for 5 charms...not too bad...and the great thing is I could wear them to work and even if I'm the only one who knows I'm bounding..who cares? I'm happy!

So here's the deal - I always LOVED Maid Marian as a kid. Easy outfit, right? I'll get a light pink tank top work over a darker pink shirt. Here's the kicker - I FOUND A FOX PENDANT. Woot! So then I hunted through that same seller's store and found a great fish pendant (Dory), book with a rose on it (Belle), feather/stone arrowhead (pocahantas), and another one that has a silouhette of alice and the rabbit on one thing and the mushroom and clock on another.

At any rate...I'm crazy excited. Once I get some whole outfits together...I'll post! By the way - are any of you guys going to be in the World the second week of June? I now feel like I have Disney Bounding sisters.... :cool1:

We are going very close to your dates but from May 13 to May 19th. Too bad beacause I was thinking the same thing!
