cosplay and Disney inspired outfits for adults

I finally got my pics uploaded to photobucket. I had to email them from my computer to my photobucket email address. Now I can not add them to the post. When I add the URL address they come as photo removed or changed or something like that. I have posted my questions in the tec threads and I am waiting on an answer. For now I have to depend on using a decription to get some advice.

I found a few skirts that may work out for an Ariel. One is a greenish blue maxi skirt, one is a green metalic trumpet skirt, one is a green metalic trumpet printed skirt as if it was scales, and one from Venus that is a green cotton fited skirt that rufles out on the bottom. Do you think the metalic skirts would be too close to a costume? I know it may be hard to say without seeing it. If anyone is intrested you go to eBay and search under green mermaid skirt

Yes I have and that is what has inspired me. It is hard to find some the clothes though depending how long ago the outfit was put together. I have long black hair so I am some what limited to Silver Mist or Jasmine. Not sure if wearing a dress in the park is good idea. I wanted to be Ariel or Merida but I do not want to dye my hair. Merida would be perfect though since I even ride a big black horse. Do you see many people wearing character wigs? Do you see many people wearing dresses? Keep in mind we will be there in May so no costumes will be allowed. If any one has any ideas I would love to hear them. Pictures would be even better!

I have short brownish blonde hair and I'm not letting that stop me from doing whatever princess I want with no wigs or dyeing my hair. So don't let that stop you!

I'm also not doing skirts or dresses - just my normal shorts. It's my tops and accessories that I'm using to come up with the character.

I would say that a skirt and a top would be fine, not too costumey. Especially since it's Ariel, it only starts to look costumey if you either dye your hair that bright red, or have a wig on and a bikini styled half top. You're safe with a skirt like that!

I've been a little concerned sometimes with Disneybounding, specifically the day that we had the drunk "snow white" incident, I was Disneybounding as Tink (the picture I posted) and while in line for Dole Whips, a girl the age that knew the characters had "helpers" had to get her Dad to ask if I was one of those helpers, apparently I looked convincing :rotfl: I wouldn't be too concerned unless you feel like you're wearing something you wouldn't wear out in public!

Thanks for the input. No I can assure you no bikini top here. First of all not that brave. Second of all let's see if I even have the guts to wear a long skirt. The boys are all for being a pirate and mom being a mermaid. DH on the other hand wants me commited to the pysc ward LOL!!! Hopefully I can get the pics on her soon!

It's all up to the discretion of whichever CMs see you on the borderline cases.

There was a woman Disneybounding as Anna ahead of me in line for the Tremaines---she had the right color hair braided perfectly, but her casual outfit looked nothing like the real Anna's. So I think she was okay. I'm overcautious, though, so I don't even bother with the hair.

I'm so psyched....(or psycho, but in the good way!) :goodvibes

Got my Frozen dvd in the mail yesterday (woo hoo!) and as I was watching Elsa's coronation it hit me what I wanted to do...

I'm going to get a turquoise tshirt and fabric paint it with the decoration she has on the front of her coronation gown. Later, I noticed a golden-y headband I have that I never wear and I realized - hey, that could be the crown!

So that'll be one of my disneybound outfits - a turquoise tshirt with fabric paint and a gold headband. I'm super excited!

(Plus - that's clearly not a "costume" - I have no worries that I'll be kicked out of the park for that or asked for an autograph. Not to mention the fact that I have short brown hair a la Rapunzel at the end of Tangled!)

At first I did think of getting a wig but quickly desided against it. No worries about the dye I will never do that one again. I naturally have medium brown hair which is now coal black. Why you ask well my DH desided it would be fun to go to a costume party this past Halloween. Halloween is our favorite hoilday. He wanted my to go as a Dragon warrior. Let me tell you it was cosplay at it's finest. Since he spent some much effort on the costume including leather special made chaps and a special leather bustier with dragon scales along with full body paint I felt obligated to dye my hair. I wanted to make sure it would take so I used permenant blue black hair dye. Needless to say we won the contest but five months later I am still black headed. Silly me thought that if I used the cheep stuff if would fade. WRONG!!! I will NEVER do that again!

Oh I am so happy for you!!! That sounds perfect!!!

I have been playing around on eBay and I think I have a plan! I bought a purple strapless top that has gathered material along the bust. It also has a slight ruffle on the bottom. I desided to go with a teal tennis skort which will be super comfortable, not revealing since it has shorts underneath, and more casual. Then I am going to purchase a stretch sea shell belt that will go just under the bust line. Along with a sea shell necklass and starfish barrett to complete the outfit. If I get brave enough I plan on also getting the trumpet style metallic fish scale print skirt and put it in my back pack to put on right after Pirates League so I can have my pic took with the boys. Then I can take it off and put the more comfortable casual skort on. So what do you guys think?

I think that sounds cute! I hope folks will correct me if I'm wrong but I'm thinking that as long as you are wearing "inspired" clothes and aren't pretending to be a character, you are safe. :)

thank you! That makes me feel more comfortable. I really am looking forward to it! This will be a lot of fun!

ok I got an idea for Silver Mist that I would like to run past you guys. I found a blue strapless mesh like one strap top and a blue layered skort. The thing I found to complete the outfit is small white back pack with small blue wings attached to it. The backpack will come in handy for holding a poncho or any other small things. Any one have any other ideas on what else I can do?

I just was looking at the top and skort again and they are more of a ice blue. Do you still think this could work for Silver Mist? Any one have any ideas on what I can do?

Well - I guess there are detailed ways to go and less detailed ways. :)

The perspective I'm taking is to sort of match colors the best I can and see if I can find related accessories (i.e. - I've slowly started to hunt for cheap fish earrings on the day I wear a bright blue tshirt with yellow sleeves (or ribbons) and am "Dory"). So if it "feels" like Silver Mist to you then I think you're in! The wings are a good accessory and I think the idea of putting them on a backpack is great!

I wouldn't want to do TOO MUCH at the parks, to be honest, just so I don't accidentally cross a line.

Check out this tumblr for some real life pics of people who are bounding. You wouldn't necessarily know for sure on these, but I also feel like the spirit of the bounding is that you know and if you're at the parks, there's a good chance that plenty of other people will also know! http://disneyboundgoeslive.tumblr.com/

Have you ever looked through DisneyBound's tumblr? some cute ideas over there.

I was going to mention Disneybounding and then I saw your post. For about 4 months now my DD13 and I have been planning our disneybound outfits for out Sept trip. It's been fun collecting clothes and accessories. We still need a few more items to complete our outfits.

Ooooo! Share some pics if you can! :)

I want to start on my Elsa tshirt this weekend....

And I found a white bow clip at Forever 21 last night so I can figure out a Village Belle day. Happy times!

My DD13 (will be 14 for our Sept trip) has several dresses that she will be wearing when we "disneybound" at the parks. A black one for Maleficient, a hunter green one for Merida, a blue skirt for "Kiss the Girl Ariel", and we are looking for a maroon dress for her "Tower of Terror" outfit. We both found cool animal print dresses for our "Animal Kingdom" themed disneybounding. The dresses are all on the short side, with short sleeves, so OK for Sept weather in FL. We plan on wearing black stretchy cotton shorts under the dresses so as not to have to worry climbing in and out of rides.
My DD (dark blonde) really wants to have temporary red dye for her Ariel/Merida days. I'm hesitant and haven't given my full approval on this yet. Wondering if there are there any that are easy to apply (spray on) and wash out well? I think a wig would be out of the question bc it's really very hot in Sept.

For fellow disneybounders.....
I've found etsy.com to be a great resource for specifically themed accessories at good prices. Mind you, I'm NOT talking about heirloom quality here, mostly homemade stuff but if you are wearing for one day on your vacation do you really need it to be super high quality?
I've bought a bow and arrow pewter necklace on a leather string for Merida outfit, a crow pendant for Maleficient, and Eifel Tower earrings for my France Pavillion outfit.

I wish I knew how to post pix on disboards. I've done it on other internet forums, but they used a different format. I will try to educate myself on how to do this and take pix when our outfits are complete.
Darn this thread has made me want to go disbound shopping when I really SHOULD be going grocery shopping (groan) today!! :rotfl:
