Cosmetic Surgery - would you?

Reconstructive surgery only.

Something I noticed about cosmetic surgery is that surgery involves cutting, and cutting results in a scar. So unless the scar is hidden in the hair (or in creases?) there is a visible scar. Face lift scars that I've seen are very small and hidden in the hairline, but the scar is still there. Tummy tucks leave a scar, and breast surgery. Or is there cosmetic surgery without scars that I haven't heard about?

You know how embarrassing it can be to have skin that doesnt match, down there??? :rotfl: :rotfl2: :rotfl: :cool1:

Well, that makes sense! :bitelip: Gross!!!! :crazy2: :crazy2: We need a good barf smilie. :teeth:

To answer your question: I don't think I would, just too many risks.

I would love to have my ****s put back up where they belong. You know, in the pre-kids, pre-breastfeeding, carefree bra-less days? Okay, TMI.. I know! LOL :)

I doubt, even if we could afford it, that I'd ever do it. I'm not big on unnecessary surgery (or pain) either! :)

As a physician, I will emphatically say that I would absolutely never undergo any unnecessary surgery. I think all that folks who do simply don't comprehend the potential risks involved. I know of numerous cases of patients who had medically necessary but very simple/routine operations and suffered terrible complications or died as a result. Why take that kind of risk just to have a straighter nose or bigger ****s? Sorry, but my life and my health are far more important than my physical appearance.

Yes. I agree. I have a friend who is an esthetician at a high end resort and she sees a lot of plastic surgery botch jobs came into her spa. :earseek: I would be too afraid about complications and would only have something done only if it was a medical necessity.

absolutely not.

The only healthy reason for plastics is reconstructive.

I would totally have surgery done and am planning on it when I turn 40 in a few years. I'm having a breast reduction and want to have a tummy tuck while I"m under. I have struggled all my life with a big chest-it's not fun. I'm eager to have it done.

I've had three...am planning on scheduling another as of Tuesday. The best money I've ever spent. I just work on preserving what I was given...nothing weird. Yes, we should all judge on traits than appearance...the reality is that we don't...since I live in the real world I'm going to look as good as I can, for as long as I can. I trust my guy, he does fabulous work, and DH and I are both thrilled w/ the results. DH was against it at first..."I love you, blah, blah, blah...". Nothing against DH, but he has been pretty darn happy w/ the results.

No, there is no feature or body part that I dislike enough to risk surgery.

Exactly, (except for the being a physician part)

I would love a tummy tuck and a breast lift/reduction but it is not worth risking leaving my children without a mother.

And by the time DD grows up i probably won't care as much as all my friends will be wrinkle city too.

Heck yeah, I'd get my ****s done. (oops, sorry my "breasts" )My friend got hers done a couple of years ago and they're amazing. And maybe lipo down the road. Who knows? I don't think there is anything wrong with cosmetic surgery. Whatever floats your boat and makes you happy. If you know the risks and are willing to take them...

ITA We'd all like to live in a world where appearances don't matter but in this world they DO. If two people, equally qualified, interview for a job and one is overweight, homely and isn't well dressed and the other is well dressed, well maintained, attractive, etc - who do you think will get the job? This is the real world we live in and people DO judge on appearances before anything else. Once they get to know a person they will love them for what's inside but it seems like these days most folks don't even take the time. Sad, sad, sad...

I work hard to maintain myself; working out, eating right, take good care of my skin, etc. I started having botox injections for migraines several years ago and can't believe what a difference it makes in those wrinkles. What a bonus!! I have great genes, even my 94yo grandma looks great, but when I'm ready for some work, I'll definately do it.

I have read about, heard about, seen too many botched jobs. If necessary, yes, otherwise, no.

If people don't like me for who I am, then that is their problem. :teeth: I don't care what the bleep they think about my appearance, and I routinely work with people who are half my age, so I could have a real complex around it if I wanted to. It's amazing how far a bit of moxie will take you. I don't do well with knives, unless they are Henkels and in my hand. :teeth: I am admittedly a big chicken, so the alternative was to live with myself getting old and saggy or die of fright undergoing plastic surgery. :confused3 That said, I don't look down on anyone who does plastic surgery or any other cosmetic procedure to make themselves feel good. It is personal choice, and by all means do what makes you feel good about yourself.

I have several friends that have had "work" done.....Several have had breast reduction, one friend treated herself to a breast enlargement and tummy tuck w/ lipo.....I would consider reduction with a little lipo. I am also considering Botox.....I have had a frown line between my eyebrows since I was a teen and it is getting more pronounced....I called and the receptionist told me that typically between the eyebrow frown lines take 27 units @ 8.00 each....so a little over 200.00. I will most likely have this done but have to think long and hard about actual surgery....

My Dad had a hair transplant done today. This is the 3rd one and they are great. My father looks young enough to be my brother but was losing his hair and hated it. Having his hair done makes him feel better about himself and I am so glad that he does it.

Most do leave scars. However, I'll take one scar hidden below my bikini area instead of the dozens I already have on my stomach. Breast surgeries leave scars, but depending on where they insert the implants, they can be very hard to detect.

Sure, if money was not an issue, I would go for a little lipo and a brow lift. Unfortunately, got too many other financial obligations that take priority in my life.

If I had any 'cosmetic' surgery, I would have a LAP band put in my stomach to help me lose weight. I would also have a nose job, as I have hated my nose since childhood, always feeling it was too big for my face. I'd also like a breast reduction, since I've always felt THOSe were too big too. But other than that, I'm pretty satisfied with the way I look.

I did. At age 47 I had a full face lift, neck lift, brow lift, lipo under my chin, and had my upper eyelids reduced. I had no complications, and the scars are minimal at worst. No amount of dieting was going to reduce my chin or eyelids. I didn't do it for anyone except me, my DH said I didn't need to, but he is thrilled with the results. I don't look like someone else, I look like I did at about 30. If you saw me, you wouldn't know I had anything done. I would not do botox or collegen, the results are not permanent and to me look fake. My surgery is not permant either, I know that with time my skin and muscles will lose the fight with gravity, but since my first face lasted 47 years, this one should make it at least 30!

Nope. (Unless reconstructive surgery was necessary.) This is the body God gave me, and if its good enough for Him, it's good enough for me.
