Coronado to port of miami

We are staying 3 nights at CSR before our cruise out of Miami. I was wondering if anyone has made this trip before and if they rented a car or used a charter. I'm not only concerned about price but safety, I've heard the areas around the port of Miami can be a little sketchy. Any feedback would be much appreciated.

During the day, you shouldn't have any problems. The Port of Miami is one of the busiest ports in the world with probably tens of thousands cruise passengers disembarking and boarding on sail days. The only time I felt vulnerable was driving to port, exiting an off ramp, and having homeless asking to clean my windows when stopped at a light. This was years ago so I'm not sure if that still happens but keep your windows up, doors locked, and avoid eye contact.

It's about a 4 hour drive from Orlando to Miami, so rental car is the way to go. Most rental agencies have drop off locations near the port with shuttle available. I don't know how much a car service would charge since it is such a long way.

I've also flown MCO to MIA, its about an hour flight and probably would take about the same amount of time if you take into account TSA, boarding time, etc. There is flat rate for taxi fares from MIA to port, $24 not including tip.

Agreed. I can't imagine how much a car service would be on such a long trip, but renting a car on Disney property is extremely easy and the drive down to Miami from there is quite nice.

I did something similar, but sailed out of Ft. Lauderdale.
