I've read a few posts about CSR feeling more like a deluxe than a moderate. I have eaten at Maya Grill, but have never stayed at CS nor have we explored the grounds. Just curious how it might be more upscale than PO/R or CBR.

CSR offers its guests a gym and spa. Watermice and other boats are available to rent on Lago Dorado. Surrey bikes can be rented as well as fishing equipment. Coffeemakers are in the rooms along with an iron and ironing board. Now all mods have a fridge too. Internet connections are available in the rooms along with WiFi being available at certain locations throughout the resort. Room service is also availavble. CSR also has suites available. It is centrally located and pretty much a short ride to all locations.

Back when CSR first opened, it used to offer turndown service and had a direct bus to the Boardwalk. I really miss the bus.

I've stayed there once, it is a nice place but seemed to be very spread out.

Buzz hit everything right on the mark and he has a great site to visit too. The few extras in room service and spa/exercise facility is what makes it different from other moderates. I had visited CSR on previous trips to check out the resort but I never thought that I would like to stay as I don't really like the Mexican theming but did last November and loved it. The resort is spread out but the walk is very relaxing and scenery is beautiful and serene. This is now my favorite mod - I really feel as though I had a vacation here. I wouldn't hesitate to not stay here in the future.

this is nice to hear. We just booked yesterday for 3 more days to our vacation in June. We are DVCers and will be leaving the BCV's on Sunday and checking into CSR. All the nice things i'm hearing makes me feel good about our choice.

We find it feels like a resort in between the moderate level and deluxe level. Besides the overall adult feel to the resort, it has a spa and a gym as well. The location is great and the buses are fantastic at this resort. The food court at CSR is far superior to the other mods. We prefer CSR to the other moderates as a whole for these reasons! :wave2:

This is a great resort, but I don't think its on the level of a Deluxe by any means. I don't believe that it is any more upscale than POR or POFQ, in fact less so. My biggest downside with the resort is that you tend to see business types with cell phones glued in their ears a little more than I care to when I'm on vaction.

It does have a few more amenities, because it caters to conventioneers, but I don't really go to Disney for a gym or a spa. The boat service to Downtown Disney from the POR resorts more than makes up for this.

I will agree, however, that the food court at CSR is absolutely the best on property!

I thought CSR was awesome. Is it like a deluxe? Not to me, but that doesn't mean it isn't a wonderful, fun place to stay.

I must say, though, that I didn't feel it catered to conventioners more than the other moderate I've stayed at, which was CBR. Other hotels on-property have convention facilities (Contemporary, GF, BC/YC, BW), but this is the only resort I see complaints about conventioners. The resort is so spread out I don't know how a convention would really affect people unless they hung out in El Centro all day. :confused3

I don't know that it feels more deluxe, but it is a wonderful resort. There can be many business types around El Centro--but I think this makes for less crowded transportation & pool areas. Somewhat spread out, but we enjoy walking around the beautiful grounds & find the evening lighting very romantic. Nothing better than grabbing a beverage & soaking up the atmosphere from one of the hammocks!

As much as we enjoyed our stay @ CSR (stayed in Ranchos section) and very much loved everything this resort had to offer. Side note to add it is still my favorite mod as of yet........

I can't say that it would be comparable to a deluxe. But just the same it is a great resort (so if your even the least interested ) make you own decision.

Just my $.02,

It's amazing how so many guests use this against CSR but never for any of the other convention resorts.

Thank you for posting the link to your website. Your pictures are awesome. Enough for me to change my ressie (we were staying at POR) andl NOW we will be staying at CSR in May.

My 3 year old thinks the pool area is COOL!!! :cool1:

Not exactly true, at least in my case. I've posted the same thing about the Yacht Club. Absolutely terrific resort, but I just wanted to gather up all the cell phones and throw them in Stormalong Bay! YC is actually worse than CSR.

It's just a personal thing--I see more the enough of that stuff the other 51 weeks of the year--part of my ideal Disney magic is to get away from it.

more of a deluxe feel than the others, yes. Not exactly sure why other than the overall "look" of the place. It's truly a beautiful resort, and the pool is amazing looking.

Great choice! Your child will love the pool.

We would not classify it as a deluxe, but we do call it the "deluxe moderate" because it has a step up in amenities, has a nicer food court, and has more special touches. I think the food court was to satisfy the business people, but there were things like better transporation, covered seating at the pool, larger hot tub, beach volleyball, better food at pool etc than we had at the other moderates. It is the newest moderate and with anything I believe when they plan they look at previous projects and work to improve some things. We still love POR as well, our first onsite visit and our most frequent hotel to stay at.

We love the "tropical SW" feel of the hotel and each section has it's own style. Beautiful to walk around, especially at night. We went when it first opened and it was great with younger kids and now that they are teens, they love it even more.

As far as the convention folks, they pretty much stayed in the main building area and never were we really aware they were there except when we went up in that area. We pretty much had the pool to ourselves except for the few who did bring their families and some other vacationers. And I really preferred sharing with them than large school groups ;)

As far as the cell phones - they aren't just the business folks. They are in every park and every hotel and every restaurant. Every teenager has one (mine included :guilty: ), but we do tuck ours away in backpacks and just use if we get split up. My point is they are everywhere.......don't like it, but not gonna change.
