We will be staying at Coronado Springs from July 7 - July 12. Our 60 days out is on Tuesday, and I wanted to know where you think the best rooms are at the resort so that we can make a request. Thanks!

I would suggest looking at www.touringplans.com. Their find a room feature will pull up a map of the resort so you can see the general layout and proximity of each area to the dig site pool & El Centro. (The map does not show the restaurant being built on Lago Dorado or Grand Destino Tower, which occupies the green area between cabanas and El Centro) You can select different buildings and check out the room views to give you good feel for the theming in each area. I was hoping for Ranchos last year as the theming seemed the most unique....but ended up in Casitas and found the environs to be very pleasant. The bus stop in the Casitas area is the first for buses heading to and from the parks (we liked that). Casitas isn't too far from El Centro and the walk is pleasant. We also found the walk to the dig site reasonable. I have seen posts from people who are fans of the Cabanas area vibe.

Note that Casitas 1-3 are preferred, 4 and 5 are standard.

I really enjoyed the ranchos section. It's quiet and the landscaping feels like you're staying in the middle of big thunder mountain or something. It's awesome. We've also stayed in casitas, which was nice because it's close to the main building, but I'd request ranchos hands down. It's awesome.

We always requested Cabanas 8a or 8b(standard) because they are close to main pool and a bus stop, and a short walk to food court.- we felt like it was a great location. Someone can hopefully chime in to say if that has changed at all with the new tower - as far as walking to El Centro goes. Agree with PP to check Touring Plans to get a feel, and Coronado thread on the Resorts Form on here.

Through online check-in, you'll have the option to select some generic requests. If you want to make a request that's more specific, you can call at any time and have it noted on your reservation.

Preferred cassitas are good!

Preferred rooms are a bookable category, so OP would need to upgrade to a preferred room to receive one of these. However, OP could request Casitas 4 or 5, which are just after the preferred rooms. In my own experience, we've not been successful receiving a room in Casitas 4 or 5 when requesting it because often group blocks and overflow are placed here, to keep them close to the other Casitas rooms and the convention center.

It will be interesting to see how the tower effects that. I'm assuming they will try to keep almost all of the convention guests in the tower. This is what they built the tower for, to impress convention guests. Of course at this point we don't know for sure how they will allocate rooms, but my guess is Casitas 4 and 5 will be alot easier to get.

If convention guests are in the tower and regular guests request Cabanas because they are the closest standard rooms to the tower, that should make Casitas 4 for those of us that want it.

Agreed. But OP checks in two days (I believe) before the tower opens, so I would assume everything stands as is until we start seeing differently. Never hurts to request Casitas 4/5 though - worst that can happen is you end up elsewhere!
