Coronado Springs vs Pop

We're looking at a trip in late July/early August -- we'll have 5 days at CBR, and then 4 at either Pop or CSR. While we love Pop, CSR is only $30 more a night, and we thought it might be fun to try out a new resort.

Our one concern is the walking distance at CSR in the heat. We typically avoid Disney in the summer, but this trip is to make up for a spring trip that had to be canceled., so we'll go weather it's hot or not! It's just our preference, but we really hate having a long hike to and from the room in the heat. (That is why we won't stay in the Little Mermaid rooms at AoA when it's hot. That got too hot for us.) We'd have a standard room at CSR, so I'd ask for the Cabanas or non-preferred Casitas, but I'm wondering if we'd be better off with the smaller footprint of Pop in the summer. Opinions?

CSR and CBR both have multople bus stops, and some type of internal bus to get around without tons of walking.

The non-preferred Casitas rooms are not far from Bus Stop 2, but they are a decent walk to El Centro. I would say just as long as the walk to Animation Hall from the Little Mermaid rooms. We've experienced both resorts. I'd also say that CBR and CSR are relatively similar, but with different themes. CBR of course has the Skyliner, but CSR has the additional dining options. I'm not sure it would be worthwhile to do a split stay between the two, and I know I would hate leaving the Skyliner after having it for 5 days. So, if it were me, I would choose Pop to stay on the Skyliner, avoid the long walks, and save a little money.

Honestly, the bus stops spread around the resort make it easy to get to and from the parks without having to walk far. And now that they have the Three Bridges, it makes the walks to and from the main building much shorter. We've stayed there in the summer and I didn't find getting around in the heat an issue. It's a beautiful resort, I'd stay there over Pop any day.

I just stayed at Coronado for the first time right before the closing. Pop is my usual spot.

If you’re planning on taking advantage of the resort itself, Coronado is better by a mile. It’s prettier, all the pools are nicer, and the dining options are a thousand times better.

I was in Casitas 5 which was perfect. You really aren’t far from a bus stop wherever you are, although it is possible to be far from the main building. But truly not much further than the last time I stayed at Pop in the farthest 50s building.

The Skyliner is a plus, but it won’t help you rope drop HS and Epcot has no festivals in late July/early August.

The Ranchos section of CSR is in my opinion the most beautiful section of the resort.

Wife and I got sold on the CSR 'upgrade' 2-is years back and to be honest, with a King bed in Pop, I would probably save the $30 a night. I was underwhelmed by CSR, completely.

I stayed in the Cabanas section at Coronado in January and loved it. I was right next to the third bus stop and an easy walk to the tower. I was also concerned about where my room would be compared to the bus stops/ dining. But luckily my room request was taken into consideration and I had the best experience. I would highly suggest doing cabana section! In my opinion Coronado is a fantastic moderate resort.

My daughter and I recently stayed at CSR (we typically stay at Pop or Animal Kingdom Lodge), and we found it too big for our liking. While it does have more dining options and nicer pool(s), it really is not a draw for us to stay there again.

The biggest factor in my choosing CSR over Pop for my July trip (which I hope will still happen) is during July (and possibly into August?) Pop is prime territory for the SATGs. Possibly having to walk a little more is an easy exchange for me to avoid the noise factor of those groups.

I'd stay anywhere over Pop, and love the Tower at Coronado...BUT the worst thing about Coronado is the busses (in general). If that's a deciding factor and Pop is something you're OK with, maybe consider staying with what you know.

I'd go with CS, it's my favorite moderate. While Pop has been renovated so the rooms are nicer now, it is still a value resort which means the public areas so very crowded and it doesn't have the little quiet pools that CS has. I'm a fan of a hot tub after walking all day and Pop does not have one. I've stayed at both, in the Casitas and Cabanas at CS and I think it was the 80s section at Pop which was just a walk across the parking lot to get to the main building. I think even if I stayed in Rancheros at CS, the walk to the main building wouldn't be that bad but we walk between the Dolphin and HS and Epcot even in Sept. so walking isn't a big deal for me.

I've stayed at both Pop and CSR, and CSR is much much nicer. For $30 a night, to me it is a no brainer. CSR.
