Looking to see if anyone has gone to the Maya Grill for breakfast. In 2008, I really enjoyed the breakfast buffet there and have been told that it may come back if there is enough interest. But in the mean time, I am curious how the breakfast is.

MY CORONADO SPRINGS REVIEW

the resort: we just returned last night. we were in rooms 5121 and 5122. the resort was absolutely beautiful. pictures of it do not do it justice. we were in casitas 5, close to the small pool/laundry and not too far from the dig site. we adored the resort theme and the rooms were our favorite of the moderates i.ve been to so far.

peppermarket: my family ate there 5 out of our 7 counter service meals. the food was excellent and the portions were huge.. we never found the layout or set up confusing either. it is now our favorite counter service location!

maya grill: we ate there twice-once for breakfast and once for dinner. for dinner we all had steak dinners. the service was very good and so was the food. breakfast was good too. i can not say it was our favorite restaurant of the trip but it was very good.

the dig site and casitas pools: we loved the pools. the dig site was so gorgeous. i also liked the activities by the pool both day and night. we loved the casitas pool too as it was so close to our room. we love to swim so these pools did not disappoint.

bus transportation: on 9/6 we waited 45 minutes at the casitas bus stop to go to the magic kingdom. coming home there was no wait as the bus was sitting there. on 9/7 we waited 65 minutes for a magic kingdom bus. on 9/8 we waited 50 minutes for an epcot bus in the am. on 9/9 it was a 45 minute wait to go to animal kingdom. on 9/10 a 40 minute wait to get to typhoon lagoon. honestly that week we had the worst bus service compared to any moderate we have been to.
we were at the first bus stop. i cant understand why the long waits:confused3

the staff: we found all of the staff to be very friendly and helpful.

coronado srpings is now our favorite moderate. with the exception of the bus transportation is was the best experience we have ever had. my famly would love to stay there again

I should have read back more than just two pages before making my prior post. I am interested in your review of the breakfast at the Maya Grill. did they bring back the buffet? Could you describe whate your group ordered and the pros and cons?

Thanks!!

Hi all,
For the recent visitors and frequent past visitors, have you noticed many window decorations at the CSR? We saw a lot at Pop on our last trip, but I don't remember any at CSR. I think the kids would enjoy decorating the window with a Halloween theme, but if people don't generally do this at CSR, then I won't add that to my list of things to bring with me next week.

I got an email offer yesterday to upgrade to SSR or YC for 1st 1/2 of my Thanksgiving trip(room only days before FD) for $29- just curious if other CSR guests are getting this as well. I'm guessing it's a supply & demand issue they're trying to remedy. We love CSR, and I'd hate to move in the middle, so we'll probably stay put - I really want to try AKL, so if I could get that for a reasonable price, I'd go for it, but it was not included.

Just got off the phone with reservations center, my request for Cabanas 9B has been entered. Hopefully we get our request. I can't wait, 29 days to go. This time next month we will be walking around EPCOT with a grey goose frozen slush. Mmmm I can taste it now.

I'm bringing Halloween window clings for this trip. I'm meeting my friend and her 9 year old granddaughter, so I thought she'd like to decorate our window! I also made each of us a Disney Princess sign using scrapbooking paper from JoAnn's....:goodvibes

We arrive next week, and we will be decorating our window! :thumbsup2

Thanks! I saw some really cute Halloween string lights at Target so I'm going to put together some decorations this weekend.

I saw one window decorated the whole time we were there. But it was decorated by Mousekeeping. There was a big towel animal elephant in their window.

I decorated for St. Patrick's Day in March. I had vinyl clings from the dollar store and put them on the windows and mirrors. That's why there is a Leprechaun in the backround of my microwave picture.

I did not see any other windows decorated on either trip.

Do you drive pretty much anywhere around Disney? Any places you suggest that are better to take disney trandsportation?

I drive everywhere. We have a medical stroller for ds and it's too heavy to be folding and lugging on the bus or trams.

When everyone in our family was able to walk, the only time we took the bus at any resort was to the MK. It's much more convenient to be dropped off at the "door" than at the TTC. By bus, you just walk into the MK. By car, you have to either tram or walk from parking to the TTC, then hop on a monorail or ferry to MK.

The medical stroller is also bulky and our son can't stand on a bus if it's standing room only. Driving is our best option.

Magic Kingdom is better by bus than car. Even if you end up waiting for a bus at the resort, its quicker than parking at the TTC and trying to take a boat or monorail to MK.

With the talk about Disney transportation, it got me wondering. My fiance and I will be driving to the world, so we will have our car. I was just wondering if anyone had suggestions as to which places are easier to drive to ourselves, and which ones are easier to just take Disney transportation. *To and from CSR* I know for sure we will probably not take our car to epcot. We may end up "drinking around the world" and probably will not want anything to do with driving after :rotfl:

I agree with the previous posters that I would not drive to MK. I hate the way the parking lot is set up (unless it's been improved in the last 10 years - the last year we parked there), with no clear markings for the tram and people pushing & shoving to get on. Then the tram to the TTC then the wait for the boat/monorail. To my mind, this is also "waiting for Disney transportation" so I'd rather just skip the whole thing and take the bus.

Epcot is easier to drive to, but if you're enjoying the adult beverages, the bus is pretty good.

I am so excited! One week from tomorrow!!! I plan on checking in early and begging to be as close to the Dig Site as they can get me. Heck, I'll sleep in a tent next to the pool if they'll let me, LOL!!!

If you had ADR's at a monorail resort, or planned on park hopping between MK and Epcot that day, would it make sense to drive over to and park at the TTC?

If you have an early ADR (like 8:00), you can usually park close enough to the MK that you don't need to take the tram. It would be fairly easy to go back and forth between MK and Epcot.

We generally use Disney transportation when we hop so we don't have to worry about getting back to the park with the car, but if you know you are going to end up at MK (for the fireworks, for example), it is easy.

We usually take the buses, but we have driven for an early ADR and we usually drive to AK and the water parks.

We've got several ADR's at 7:30am for GF and Poly, so maybe we'll just take a cab from CSR to those resorts, be on time for our ADR's, then take the monorail to MK/Epcot and the bus back to CSR those evenings.

Other mornings, we have ADR's at 7:30am for BC and HS, so again we'll probably just take a cab over to those from CSR.

I'd definitely take a cab or drive for a 7:30 resort ADR, since you are supposed to check in 15 minutes early and will have to take the resort monorail from the MK if you take the bus. If you drive, you'll need to either valet park or move your car to the TTC after breakfast, which will eat up some time, or you can park at the TTC and take the resort monorail to the GF or Poly. I think valet parking is $12 or $14 plus tip - it might be cheaper than a cab. I'd also take a cab or drive for the 7:30 BC - even if you could get an Epcot bus, it goes to the front of Epcot and you need to be near the back (and can't walk through at 7:30). If you drive, you will have to move your car to the Epcot lot after breakfast (unless you valet park), so I'd just do a cab.

It is pretty easy to drive to DHS - I'd probably drive and get a front row spot for that ADR. But I thought the earliest ADRs at HS were at 8:00? Are you going to Hollywood and Vine?

On the same topic...we have a 7:30 am Chef Micky's ADR and we will have a car. Should we just park at CR and then move the car or should we just take the bus to MK and then monorail it over to the CR? Are the monorails even working that early? MK opens at 9 am the day we will be there.

Had breakfast there Dec 2010 and enjoyed it. I had Eggs Benedict, I'm pretty fussy on how I like my eggs cooked (no runny white!) and they were perfect. Hollandaise sauce tasted like it came from a packet and then sat a long time, that was the only negative. My friend got a skillet which was HUGE and she said it was great. Had wonderful service, the waiter gave us coffees to go at no additional charge.

I would drive the car and park it at the TTC, then take the monorail to the CR. The resorts monorail should be running by 7:00 (maybe even earlier?). Hopefully someone can confirm what time the resort monorail starts, or you could ask at check-in. You could take the bus and walk or monorail to CR, but it would be hard to get to MK by 7:00, then transfer to CR to check in by 7:15.

Sometimes the early buses will drop you directly at the CR if you have a breakfast scheduled, but I think that is up to the bus driver. Someone has posted on the DIS about an early bus just for character breakfasts, but I haven't ever seen it. If the CMs can confirm at check-in that it exists, you can probably go straight to the CR.

You can drive directly to the CR for breakfast, but your chances of making rope drop are better if you don't have to move the car after breakfast, then take the tram, then the monorail or ferry to get to MK.
